  1. Devil's advocate here, but when I started in '75 I wouldn't hesitate to say that 3/4 of the corps in existence in Wisconsin at the time probably were worth going to get a show dog while they were on the field. Good thing show tickets were only a couple bucks.

Flame away if you like, but if Ken Kobold got a request for a tape of the 1975 Park Falls Brass Regiment, I'd be pretty confident in stating that it probably came from a member.

  2. Nice to see a picture of Chachi (standing, 5th from the right).

HaHaHaHa!!!! On the Cavaliers' alumni message board, the guys are complaining how their Wives and S.O.s come to take pictures and 90% of the pictures are of Chachi!! :big hug:

"It's ALWAYS about ChaChi!!! Can't it EVER be about Craig Rasin???"

  3. Bosco not only borders the Combat Zone, but also Chinatown.

That would explain how the morning after the show, I walked to the opposite side of the cooktruck to find a spot to sit down to eat my Froot Loops only to spy an Asian-American male passed out against the curb (with his member hanging out of his pants.)

One of Boston's Finest arrived, assessed the situation, and called for an ambulance from the hospital that was about a block away.

By the time the ambulance arrived, about 3/4 of the corps was there, vocally encouraging that guy to get up and run for it.

And naturally, hilarity ensued when the EMTs attempted to load that guy onto the longboard, only to receive a urine shower from the now awake and highly irritated man.

Therein is the genesis of the 1981 drum bus preliminary-winning rookie talent show program.

  4. OK, let's start up the "old school" machine.

My first drum corps experience happened circa 1968. I was eight years old. My small hometown of Medford, WI had it's annual Mink Festival. (there was no PETA back then). It was capped off with a parade. The usual marching bands, Miss Hayward Muskie Princess, Medford Mink Princess, floats, etc. There was one group that sounded different than the marching bands. They were "brassy" with really cool drumming. They were all girls in kilts! After the parade they put on an exhibition. I asked my dad if boys could do that also. He told me I could if I wanted to wear a kilt and I could find a way to get to Racine. Did all drum corps members wear kilts?

So guess who popped my drum corps cherry?

Or, as we called them BITD, The Balls of St. Peter.
