  7. Still looking for that special something to do this summer? Longing to march with a corps but find yourself with limited funds? Can't commit to a summer-long drum corps tour? Wish you could feel the magic of performing again but too old for DCI? HEAT WAVE is the answer!! A member of DCA and located in Orlando, FL, HEAT WAVE is an all-age corps accepting members from age 16 to 60. We are a competitive corps with a full field show and compete in DCA (Drum Corps Associates) shows in Georgia, North Carolina, Florida, and Pennsylvania, among others. We rehearse and perform weekends 90% of the time and the cost is low, especially compared to the $1500- 2000 spent on junior corps. All talent levels are accepted. The guard staff is phenomenal this year including Visual Designer Adam Sage of Phantom Regiment, SCV, Cavalier, and Pride of Cincinnati as well as WGI Champions Kennesaw Mountain HS and Freedom HS. Stephanie Rennell has instructed Seminole HS, SCV, and Phantom Regiment as well as Freedom HS and WGI IO Bronze Medalist Knights. Our show this year is Doin' TIME with HEAT WAVE with musical selections as diverse as Stan Kenton and Pink Floyd. We are now in the process of building our show so come on out and join us. It's the most fun you'll have this summer!! HEY... Bring your brass playing friends along for company. We have a spot for them!! Next rehearsal is May 7th Trotter's Park Lee Rd and N. Orange Blossom Trail Orlando 11am to 9pm See our website for details and directions. HEAT WAVE website
  8. I believe Heatwave of Orlando is in exhibition at DCI Orlando yet not on the bill. Hmmm...
  9. Have to say i agree w/ you. Went to have my face blasted off and there was barely a gust... NOT LOUD AT ALL!! I was sitting midway up and the sound just didn't travel up even though there were speakers at both ends of my row. I don't think it was production as clarity was excellent. Heard alot of nuances in shows I've watched over and over. Less than stellar sound expected in earlier corps with older technology but not the 90's and 2000+. Was just OK due to that, not to mention the guy changing the signs from a huge lift literally at the bottom of the escalator while it was moving and full of people. Lucky someone wasn't crushed. Also, the theater left the lights on a full minute or more into Star's performance AND didn't bother to turn ON the house lights the entire time people left the theater. Regal Cinema Tampa was a deathtrap!! Enjoyed the visuals very much... nice to see the growth of the activity and the genius of folks like Gail Royer, Sal Salas, and George Zingali. Will let my local theater know about problems to prevent future complications.
  10. Our EXTREMELY gracious host Dennis said the number of tickets sold by Saturday morning was around 2000. Hard to tell from the field but it felt like I was performing for a Super Bowl-sized crowd they were that enthusiastic. I LOVE the people of Lewisburg!! I could not have asked for a better first senior corps experience. Thanks, Lewisburg!! ps. The weather was PERFECT!
