  1. I remember that! hahaha!!!

And since George was driving...we were heading down the highway at about 85-90! hahaha!!!

After I joined the Bucs, I remember Craig was talking to George and asked if he was "stressed" when Tommy came on the scene, he said "A bit" but it kept him on top of his game!

Another funny Tommy Sipe story was at Penn National for the Governor's cup, we were performing in front of the stands, and the guard was behind us... He did his HIGH toss and mis-judged his "landing" area and got wrapped up in one of the fences! (I think he caught it too) but he was hurting!!! The more we thought it it, the more WE all felt that our lives were in danger! hahaha!!!

  2. They didn't make the cut because I wasn't in them then! hahaha! (I didn't even KNOW what Drum Corps was in 76!)

I USED to see him at the Colonial Park mall all the time, but as I said, it's been YEARS!

Fawber you old dog..how the heck are ya?!?!?

Ahem..." music was my first love...and it will be my last...music OF the future, and music of the past....To live without my music...would be impossible to do..."

I'll have to go back to the tape for the rest...sorry..pre-coffee!

They did it in 87??? Missed that one!?!?! I know that Bowser marched in 86, then we did Reading again in 88 for "poopies and haha's" (DCA approved version) where was I in 87?!?!?!

  3. Oh...almost forgot! I DID find that tape with the corps singing "Music"..it runs a tad fast, but it's really cool! and it's the WHOLE arrangement singing and horns...It's much different than what ended up on the "album"...I'm so used to hearing the "who want's a touchdown...Ray want's a touchdown.." part into Impossible Dream! I have to see if I can plug it in on my computer and try to slow it down!

    Wild stuff!!!

  4. Al sadly passed away in 94.

i'll take that 81 tape tho...i was ###### when Larry changed that!

Bummer...what a great guy...94 huh...I'm that far out of it!

Yeah, I gotta find that...if you saw how many tapes I have! (not including the cassettes of DCI from back when they used to play the WHOLE thing on PBS...I had several years on cassette that I taped right off of the TV hahaha...such crappy quality, but you could at least hear them!) There's a box with all of them in it, I gotta get through those...there's some "classic" stuff in there!

I also have a couple drum judge tapes that I accumulated over the years. One in particular was Bob O'Connor (dis is Bawb O Conna) where he hacked something up every few minutes! Funny stuff!!!

  5. whoa...time out.

    is this Chumley????????

WOW, that name just kicked in.. How ya doing bud...

Forgot your first year in Shore was my last...

JimF (used to ride in the equipment truck with Paul G and Benny (God rest his soul))....

    Who's that, Fawber????

Finding people from my "sordid past" in here! hahaha!!!

Where's Paul G these days? I used to run into him from time to time, but haven't seen him in YEARS!!!!

  6. I've been in contact with the Beran family. they are digging for it. Al had so many recordings they have no clue where to start looking.

Cooool! I hope he can find that one!! Is Al still around????

I have old tapes somewhere...but they aren't very listenable from my recollection...(taped on an old hand held MONO tape recorder!)

I actually think I have a tape of when the corps was STILL singing the WHOLE song "Music" back from '81 I guess it was....(from one of the spring concerts)

I gotta dig big time myself, I have a tape of when I was in the Chocolatiers that I want to transfer to disc to preserve it. When I moved last year...actually the year before jeez time flies...everything went into a box, and I have NO clue where anything is anymore.

  7. then again, i remember when Rick was a tom player.

and ben rumor has it a recording of you at the Forum in 84 exists when you played set for Explosion.

I remember when Rick was a tom player! hahaha! Thank GOD he was on the other side of the line! hahahaha!!!

REALLY!!!! Can ya get me a copy, that was the best of the 3 shows I did!!!

Al Behran had a copy way back that he let me hear (But I never got a copy of it)

THAT should be released on CD! hahaha!!!!

  8. "guys they nailed the 9 they nailed the 9! 83 didnt do that!"

the 83 snare line NEVER nailed the 9! hahaha!

guzz guzz ga duzzzzz, guzz guzz ga duzzzzz guzzzzzzzzzzewwwwwwwwwwrrrrrrrrrrrrrrraaaaaacccccchhhhhhh! B-bOOM!

    hahahahah!

Consider this... people were cut from the TOM line and placed in the SNARE line that year! (I actually think Moyer was one of them too?!?!?!)

I gotta pull out that album and listen to it again...21 freaking years ago JEEEZ!

  9. the only man to drop a stick in mid performance, take the other stick, hold it to his nose, and pretend to snorkle down to get the missing one?

    Nooooo...it was Cruisers stick

(Cruiser, for those that don't know...is Danny DeLong of Bluecoats fame!...taught him EVERYthing he knows!)

I actually NEVER dropped acid...I mean a stick!

I wish someone had that on video, that woulda made the "highlight" reel! heh heh heh!

I just can't believe that 21 :whip: years after it happened you guys are STILL talking about it !

  10. Well put Jeff! As Mr. Schomburg put it, brought back a LOT of memories!!

Those saying that Sun was next in 80 are absolutely correct... When I was in Reading, I marched with a guy that was in Sun that year and he busted my chops about it all the time!

The opener in 79 was I Hope I Get It (A Chorus Line) into Music in the Mirror (short drum solo from another B-way show)

The shakos were only in 79..then we got the white hats (with the usually disappearing freaking pink plumes!)

You missed a lot of the controversy from the 81 year! I remember the corps being thoroughly pi$$ed at DCA for several reasons, and almost giving Larry a heart attack going into Giants Stadium because the drum line was threatening to play both Sky's and Cab's street time going in and coming out respectively! (We ended up playing "Carnivalista" that little ditty Fillipelli brought us)

Also the end of the year when the week before finals when we lost to the Hurricanes by a few tenths..stormed the judges meeting en masse and the chief judge told us that we were both "Equal corps, and that it could go either way each week between us" then the Hurcs won finals...did that mean WE could have won...nah.. we weren't as good as Reading and Sun that year (in my opinion Sun should have won...but when I joined the Bucs..I was told other wise..hahaha!!)

My years in Westshore were some of the best times of my life, I made some great long lasting friends , and have great memories (clouded by loss of brain cells)
