  1. I'd like to add that following this group throughout the season and watching them develop while watching videos, going to several shows, rehearsals, etc... this may have been the most visually polished Bluecoats corps in their history. I really really hope they can keep this drill writer because this show was a joy to watch. Great guard integration, awesome transitions, smooth flow, beautiful staging and just an all around visually appealing show (these arent words I usually use to describe a Bloo show...remember last year? yikes). Kudos to the "new" staff for integrating that new technique and making the corps look so mature, not just from the field but from up top as well. While the 2010 corps was obviously on top of its game visually and the drill design was stellar, I'd like to see the new direction the corps takes visually and maybe improving on a caption that has been traditionally their weak point, both performance and design wise. In my opinion, while we may all love the hornlines and drumlines, this is a visual activity and that's what wins championships. When was the last time you saw a 4th-6th place corps win a visual title? (like you see sometimes with high drums or high brass going to corps in that range)

  2. In an unprecedented turn of events, the Bluecoats announce the hiring of Adam Sage as their new assistant Brass caption head. To fill the void of Beddis at percussion, Matt Harloff has announced he will take over the reigns of the drumline as well. To assist him with brass now that he is splitting up his efforts, Crown has hired SCV's brass staff from 2011. Stay tuned for more info. All info is from the source (Crown xanga and myspace page)

  3. I tend to agree with your position. However, the problem of "temporary" Quality is in the one-year push toward greatness, then the jumping ship effect by staff seeking instant gratification with an existing top corps which has became the norm in today's world of drum corps (especially within lower corps attempting to climb the competitive ranks). Quality without loyalty (from both the organization and the individual) is nothing more than selfishness; but when our culture teaches us that entitlement and instant gratification is acceptable, loyalty usually gets shoved overboard.

    That's...deep. Haha

  4. Tim wrote some cool stuff in 09. Then came 2010 which I think was definitely his best stuff. He created an identity with effective and "hip" drill that complimented the show and music extremely well. 2011 was a step back I think...definitely not as effective. Awkward looking transitions and sets that were uncleanable..didn't fit the music sometimes. Who knows, maybe he ran out of ideas. Either way, change could work out for the best, and I know the vis staff will gladly take on the role of cleaning and perfecting the drill of whoever the new guy is.

  5. Random Allentown related question that has always confused me, so are the scores from both nights used to determine the order for quarterfinals? If so didn't the corps tonight have an advantage with the extra day of rehearsal? Just nit picking haha, i dont know how it works (and I marched the Allentown many many times lol)

  6. They have re-done some drill in the ballad and the closer, from what I hear. I have nothing too specific but I know the music is the same. The "new" ending or "official" ending as most corps like to do, will probably be put in around Texas or Atlanta. All the changes now are drill or guard related. Can't wait until they put it on the field under the lights!
