  1. It's very common knowledge that overage was practiced constantly among those corps that meant anything..... Or is it now that you don't believe the "consensus"?.....as far as my drum sheets, I will make them available to anyone with 25.00. I'll donate the money to whatever drum corps fraternity you choose. Kick up the cheese and I'll send you a copy.....By the way....I loved your hornline!
  2. OOps.....the powerhouses of the east that made drum corps what it was. Yea...you had the great Royal Airs and a couple of good Cavie years...but for the most part, drum corps was the east....The west coast push theory has been around since the very beginning my friend....and talked about many times before. ....as far as the devil machine goes....seems to me that 1976 was the year anyone took them seriously.
  3. Dude...we are not talking about winning anything. The west was just that. A bunch of vagabond rag tag outfits that were always in the shadows of ALL
  4. HERE HERE FELIXH.......THANK YOU........The Muchacho DQ was not a post I ever instigated. What fuels my response are the ######## that "know everything". When I read posts like "they marched someone who was age 36" or "every score sheet was confiscated and never tabulated" or "all judges and staff were instructed to be silent" is just a plain crock of dung....PARTICULARY TO THOSE OF US THAT HAS A COPY OF THE DRUM SHEETS!.....Not everyone was silent. I also read that the "Muchachos sat on the upper part of the back bleachers and threw mouthpieces, food, spit...etc etc"....is just plain ridiculous. We sat in the middle of the back bleachers and behaved like the professionals we were. The only thing that was true was someone played the "bull call".....and it WASN'T Kievit like the so called experts have said time after time. The speculation on who won is a non issue. Madison won of course. Case closed....But we were told otherwise at the meeting afterwards. Most of us couldn't of cared less what our actual placement was......the damage was done, and we just wanted to call it a season. If you want a personal opinion, then I'll say this. 1975 IMO was not our best year...it was 1974. BUT....the corps was alot stronger in 1975. The musical show was more challenging (for it's time), still hung very close to the top in execution...drumming was impeccable, GE near the top and marching could have been the one somewhat weak area. But when you put it together, it was a very formidable show..... very powerful to say the least. However, I thought that we shot our load at the CYO's. We were very close to peak form then, and we eargerly wanted another shot at Madison. I watched their show and thought that it was great...., and it would take another super effort to beat it. It wasn't an impossibility to overcome 1.5...afterall....look what we did to the DEVILS from the World Open to the CYO. We smoked their ###, after losing by almost 5 points. The WO was our worst performance of the season. Finishing up here.....I believe that there was a "push" to establish the West Coast Corps in the new DCI endeavor. Afterall.....drum corps was the EAST for the longest time. There was a concentrated effort by a few West Coast directors to go after the Chacho's. That nonsence explanation by the Cavies was just that.....nonsense. YOU MIND YOUR OWN GOD #### BUSINESS AND NOT WORRY ABOUT WHAT OTHERS ARE DOING. The Cavies sucked anyway then, and the response that they just wanted all corps to play fair is bull. Don Warren and Jim Jones were close friends, so the Troopers also benefited from the DQ. It was a set up...plain and simple. DCI could have done something way before finals....but chose to wait. Again...Who cares?. Why bring this up time and time again?....Let it go.....posting idiotic statements about that day will only fuel a still burning fire.
  5. Hey Dill Weed Legend......I always had and have, the utmost respect for the Devils.....but you calling yourself a legend is a bunch of sh-t, and you do an injustice to the organization by referring to yourself as such....If I were an alumn of your corps I would bit-- slap you for your arrogance.....even Wayne doesn't fefer to himself that way....Now go and play with your tool numb nuts. No one has e mailed me for the drum sheets that I possess. If you would like them, the cost is 25.00 per sheet. Some of us have jobs and therefore are not able to just sit on line and listen to some of the dred on this forum. Bottom line here is we all have our opinions. I could care less who says what about the Muchachos. We cheated...big FU---N deal....we got caught...big FU---N deal....were there atleast 6 other corps that I personally knew of with overage...YES....but big FU---N deal.... Why do all you curry breaths keep bringing it up? Who gives a #### about the consensus of other people that were around in 1975?...That means jack. Unless you were part of what was happening, your two cents means nothing. Personally, I could of cared less if we won or not. I loved the Madison show from that year and still play it today. I wasn't one of those people that were whinning or crying about what happened. Yea, I would have liked to perform at night during finals, but I also enjoyed myself watching the show as well. Talking about something that occured 30 years ago is all the proof that you need about the legacy of the corps. While the DQ will always be attached, it's secondary to the mark that was left on the field. I will always be more proud being a part of our corps in 1975, than I would of being a part of any of the garbage that is on the field today...with the lone exception of Devils, Cadets, Cavies....other than that..............you can have drum corps....or whatever is left?
  6. My fellow Muc has his facts wrong...I remember that day as if it were yesterday. I said in some other posts throughout the year that we went on around noon. Additionally...it's funny that the cavies were on right after us isn't it? As far as the rat Cavies go...I firmly believe that you should take care of your own house, and not worry about what others are doing. But who really cares anymore...back then you were part of a drum corps fraternity alright....THE OVERAGE FRATERNITY......I had several friends in other top 12 corps.... ALL had overage.......but there was a sytematic plan to "get" the chacho's because others would gain (West Coast). I also have to diagree with what Dan from Madison said about the Muchachos. I'm para-phrasing here...but he said that in 1975 the chachos were desperate to win a title and did everything they could to accomplish that end. Pure nonsence dude. After the 1974 season and during our winter rehersals, we had an over abundance of talent show up in Hawthorne. Just a select few were chosen...our hornline grew to 61, but almost all were carryovers from prior years. Our age infractions were never discussed throughout the year, in fact i would bet that alot of us never knew each others ages. I was part of the corps, and I didnt know. Be that as it may....the corps legacy is still intact, and always will be. The corps left an indelible mark, and lives in infamy to this day...which is remarkable given the corps relatively short exsistence. CAVIES SUCK!
  7. Not being a computer geek, guide me through how I can post this score sheet. What you will see are 2 drum sheets from 1975 prelims....each having just 1 tick...we scored 19.8 in drums....I only have the drum sheets, as each of us were given a copy because it was the highest drum score recorded...and it was of historical importance for a few reasons.....people know, but it's still hush hush....in time, things will be released such as the "real recording" and a video of that performance that has been used in marching clinics throughout the years.
  8. How bout cuz I've been to every finals show since 74....never heard a crowd go that beserk....Why not just listen to the recording...even that doesn't do it justice.
  9. I just had the opportunity to read some of the most outrageous posts ever regarding our 1975 season. It's great that the corps lives in infamy to this day, but all the EXPERTS here just feed the speculation and the myth. As one who was there through the DQ, and more importantly, the weeks preceding the finals...it was clearly obvious that this incident was planned for quite some time. Rather than rehash this subject here as I guess you have done...you can write to me personally, and I will show you ACTUAL copies of the "destroyed" drum sheets, and whatever else you would like to settle this once and for all. And yes....we have a score. First place....6 over Scouts
  10. Score was never released. And no video exists at least to my knowledge. And believe me I have tried to get it. If you were a corps director of one of the top 6 corps, you would have seen it. The sheets were destroyed shortly afterwards. I know its sexy to think Hawthorne won, but the facts as relayed to me by someone in the above named grp of directors, is that Madison won. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> SHEETS WERE NOT DESTRYOYED....JEEZE
