  1. Just because I've never marched for a corp before, doesn't mean that I can't have an opinion also. I've watched enough drum corps to know a good show from a bad one. BACK OFF MAN!!! <**>
  2. I have only been a fan of DCI for 3 years now but I have grown to love and truly enjoy this activity! These are my thoughts on last night! Bluecoats- Being the first corps to perform, Blue had to catch the crowds attention quickly and the did a good job. They weren't very loud but still pretty clean musically. I didn't see any really tough drill sets either, but I still enjoyed the show. Overall 6/10 :) Madison Scouts- This being my second time seeing Madison perform I didn't see all that much inprovement since Columbia, SC. But the corps really didn't need that much either, this is the Madison everyone has been looking for the past couple of years. I loved Malaga as the closer! Strong Sound, Good Drill, Great Show! Overall 7/10 ^OO^ Cadets- I've always liked the Cadets and they're show this year is a classic Cadets show, but performing so early, I figured the judges would leave a cushion for the rest of the corps(and they did)! Not as loud as I expected from a Top 3 corp, but very clean! Overall 7/10 Boston Crusaders- Being a Crown fan, I can't trash amping a show, but I still don't like it! I'm not trying to trash Boston, but I just had a hard time enjoying the show. Not a personal favorite! Overall 5/10 <**> Cavaliers- This corps always seems to keep me on the edge of my seat! I didn't think the whole Bond idea would last the whole summer but I liked it alot. Typical tough Cavies drill(especially the closer!!!)! Nice blend of sound. It was alittle messy for a Cavalier show though! Overall 7/10 :) Phantom Regiment- I also saw this show a couple of weeks back in Columbia, SC. And man have they emproved alot! I thought the corps sound was much better and the drill besides the opener was alot cleaner also! Beautilful Show! Overall 7/10 :) Santa Clara Vanguard- The hype overall SC's hornline this year is TRUE! I couldn't imagine a corp being louder that the Cavies and Madison last night but SC proved me wrong. I fell in love with the show instantly! Drill was alittle sloppy but once it cleans up this corps is gonna be HOT!!! Overall 8/10 b**bs Blue Devils- It must be the year of the west cost corps because this show was awesome!!! You can't go wrong with Porgy and Bess and the BD's proved that. I also really liked all the train ideas tossed in. KILLER TRUMPET SOLO'S!!! Those guys were screaming! As far as I see, BD's are taking two championships back to back!!! Overall 9/10 b**bs
  3. Nice review Brian, hope to see another one from you soon!!! :D
  4. Good review, thanks for just saying what you felt and not worry about someone else getting upset! ^OO^
  5. Ok, i'm not a drum corp wizz but i've really enjoyed these past couple years of watching and listening so this review is not from a professional's view point in any way, just a fan's! Marion Glory- Being such a big fan of The Planets I love seeing a corp perform it. I thought starting the show in the middle of mars was a little weird but i like the fact that they ventured away from the Cavies order of playing. For such a small corp I thought the big hits of the show were impressive. I thought the snare line was way too loud for such a small corp though, if you only have 20 winds you don't need 7 snares. Overall 3/10! Kiwanis Kavaliers- The first division 1 corp of the night put on a decent show. I enjoy seeing West Side Story being preformed also. I thought the corp did a pretty good job of role-playing all through the show. Overall 5/10 :) Colts- First corp of the night to have a decent sound. I thought the drill had its tough points but the crowd appreciated it. I had a hard time getting into the music but I liked the show better than last years. Overall 4/10 Carolina Crown- First strong horn sound of the night! The hits in the opener made a couple of crowd members jump. The horn line was very clean and blended well even during hard drill moves. I didn't like the vocal parts at all, but BR made up for it!!! The home crowd gave the corp a well deserved standing ovation! Overall 7/10 :) Madison Scouts- Being a Crown fan i was pretty sure that they would take second place, but that was before Madison blew my ears into the parking lot!!! Nice blend of sound overall from the corp. I really liked Malaga as the closer. A strong ending that resulted in the biggest standing O of the night. Overall 8/10 b**bs Crossmen- Preforming after Crown and Madison was pretty tough! Both the corps really got the crowd's attention. I enjoyed the show, but it didn't get the reaction that the other two did overall from the crowd. I loved the plungers in the WM piece. Overall 6/10! :) Phantom Regiment- I didn't think Phantom could do a show that was better than last year's Harmonic Journey. I was wrong!!! I thought their sound was crisp and clean and they kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time!!! The encore performance after the competition was excellent!!! Overall 8/10 b**bs
