uh, for the activity, not for scv, and they took 4th nub
LOL.
He meant 2000 isn't the greatest year ever beyond 5th place. I.E. 1-5 were awesome, and the rest weren't, in his opinion.
Nub...haha. You only have to post 126263 more times to match his post count.

Of the handful of stadiums I've experienced, Memorial Stadium in Bloomington was by far the best. No multiple decks, so the crowd was all together, feeding off each other. The stands were positioned perfectly from the field, so that you felt connected to the performance no matter where you sat.
The Rose Bowl was nice in that regard. The stands were a little too shallow, the turf was in terrible shape, and the lights buzzed, but being in one big sea of people was a great experience.

I'm going to answer this in three ways.
1. Sound. Hands down, the single best stadium DCI has ever held championships is the Orlando Citrus Bowl. Granted, everything else about it pretty much sucked, but the sound was magnificent. Not even Camp Randal comes close to what the acoustics are in Orlando.
I was just coming in here to say the exact same thing.

Well, I wouldn't say that would be the reason . . .probably more along the lines that it would be cost-prohibitive to go too far back.
I wonder how far back you'd have to go before the quality of the originals isn't practical to put on BluRay

Quick search online, without really shopping around.
BD Replication for 1000 disc run- roughly $3, so $6 per package.
BD Double disc case: roughly $.40/case
How much time and money went into the audio/video mastering?

I like that dci is going to blu ray, but still, ouch on the price, like with the rest of DCI's video offerings. I mean go amazon and check out their Blu-Rays from high to low.
http://www.amazon.com/s/qid=1269621470/ref...amp;sort=-price
Every Blu Ray set that is over $100 is either a special 'collector's edition' of something that has many additional features included in the box, or is something with MULTIPLE SEASONS worth of video. Compared to DCI, which has what, 5 hours worth if you watched multi-cam and high cam back to back?
Compare that to, for example, the Dexter season 1-3 set, with 9 BDs, and roughly 30 hours worth of content. You have to go significantly lower price to even find a set below 3 discs in the box.
I can't really fault them at all on the price. Dexter seasons are other collectors sets that you mention are produced in much higher volumes.

Nah, I was thinking of someone dredging up enough info from places and and then sending an email or calling you and claiming that they actually know you. Or better yet, to claim that they are someone you knew but haven't heard from from a while. Drop enough stuff or a old personal rememberance that you wouldn't think of being on the web and you might not be as suspicious.
Good luck - it's hard to pull the wool over these eyes. Most people get scammed because they are stupid, not careless with personal info on the net, IMO.

I don't know about anybody else, but I loved 2008 Samurai.
I really enjoyed some moments, but then there was some Four Corner/Frameworks/Spin Cycle/Machine recycling.

99% of the population has first name or initial, last name, address and phone number publicly available...it's not like we're posting credit card or social security numbers.

I love the Cavies, but I'm a little worried that their streak of glamorous victories is coming to an end. Could anyone possibly reassure me?
If it makes you feel any better the streak ended in 2007.

Wait, your marching Statesmen Nick? I've never met you, maybe because your percussion?
If your in the hornline then I'm an idiot!
It's ok Kris, "YOU'RE" not an idiot!

DCI was making an effort to inform and educate the public. Their first attempt was met with so much criticism that they killed the rest of the series.
Call it what you want, but that first article was not an effort to inform and educate.

Drill cards? Something like dotbook pages maybe?Yep, same thing basically. Coordinates. Dot book, w/e you want to call it!
takes forever to make them!
Oh good....i cant waitIt seems to be a Statesmen thing. I noticed anyone who had marched other corps prior had a dot book, and the homegrown Statesmen carried little laminated cards for each song...whatever gets you on your dot.

The classy thing would have been for Statesmen to go anyway. The economy never seemed to slow down Empire's ability to travel before.
And maybe saying "hey look what we can do" and flying across the country this summer, given the difficulties experienced by Brigs and Cru, wasn't exactly the classiest thing to do either.

members of the Empire Statesmen fart too muchFred Hall!
True story.

If SCV 2004 and Cadets 2005 aren't the top two in percussion there is something wrong with this place.

Do you really expect the employees of an organization to speak out against it publicly? To make the frequently awful and always dreaded sports analogy: how many NFL refs, MLB umpires or NBA officials do you see speaking out against their leagues? I'm not sure why you would expect anything different from DCI.
No. I also don't expect an organization responsible for sanctioning events, wherein the outcome is determined solely by subjective means, to jeopardize the integrity of the judging community by having them endorse such a blatantly dishonest article.

The roof will not be open
You just lost the game!

Time out.
The judges already said the sound in LOS was fantastic...the best possible environment for listening to corps....
Did something change since that article?

Sorry to here about the brigs but people close to the corps knew it was coming. Also rumor has it the San Fran trip is off due to "money issues"but like my previous thread said" wait for it"Here it is folks, the gospel according to Sal.
5. Statesmen - Sorry guys. I know your track record but there's lots of good talent in front of you. (Rebuiding year)
My final rankings areStatesmen(5th horns)
my predictions for corps placement has been 98% for the past 7 years good luck to all and prove me wrong.Captions were an added bonus this year.
Your anti-Empire bias is showing. Go update your "98%" prediction percentage while David Bruni worries about the Statesmen.

So for those of us non-serious DCI fans, what happened?
A couple of corps that should would have been 3rd and 5th in Division II placed 1st and 2nd in Division III?
-
How about serious fans have open minds about what corps could do with the limitations of their eras equipment.
s/ Guy who has audio going back to a quarter century before my time.
Those posts were all in good humour Jim.

Were they the best brass musicians ? No or course not. Not even close. they had 2 forms of playing: 1) loud.... 2) LOUDER STILL ( haha!)

Did you say that twice, or is there an echo in here?
