In 91 there was a dog that hung around during hell week that we named Ellie (LE). Also that year, we had the pet goldfish that was buried during retreat as told in the funny retreat stories thread.

My favorite Cadets show. IMO, an incredible show as PFR brought down the house everytime we saw them on tour. Coincidentially, saw an ice skater perform to that song on t.v. later on that year.

I wanna see "YZZ" by Rush on the field... but feet would be hard to do in that song.
I have always thought YYZ would be a good song. During the synthesizer part in the middle, the guard could do a rotating pentagram with red flags in the middle of the field.

Ryan Powell, Limited Editon 90-91, will be hitch hiking across the country and is going to make it into a documentary.

2001 Blue Knights was a risky choice that definitely flopped. BK playing cartoon music and trying to have comedy didn't really work for us. Talk about lost momentum. :(
But how fun was it to play that show?

Very happy to hear this. Looking forward to seeing you guys on the field soon!

Good Luck! I hope you have a great turnout.

Brad wasn't that the Racine show that had the barbed wire around the stadium??
I was looking at the show line-up and I don't think you guys were throwing candy back to Americanos--was'nt it Rapid City Express??
-
Just checked the shows on corpsreps and it was in Grand Rapids. Barbed wire around the stadium, heard gunshots as we were warming up!Any chance that was the Canadian Open in Kitchner/Waterloo? I remember winning that show, much to the dismay of the Kiwanis Kavaliers' faithful. Instead of a standard victory concert, our... um... inebriated staff decided that we should play our parade tune twenty or thirty times. America the Beautiful. -
Get There! Get To Rehearsal! GET THIS CORPS ON THE COMPETETIVE FIELD!!!!!!

Got another one from 91 DCM. At prelims Railman beat us by 3 points and took every caption. At finals, we beat them by a tenth of a point. After scores were announced, their hornline came over into our block and shook aour hands one by one.
We did this the next year to Northern Aurora after they beat us.

Another story from DCM finals in 91. I, along with another guy, were guarding our horn block which was next to the Railmen. We were both big rivals that year so trying to look badassed without moving our heads, we glanced over to see who was guarding their block and saw that it was two of the cutest girls we had seen. We just had to leave our block to go over and try to get them to break. So we get right up in their faces and start commenting on how cute they looked in their uniforms and and how we would like to get to know them better if they could only relax and leave their block. They finally smiled then started to laugh which got them to ask each other if they should break--they did =-) We all became the best of friends the rest of the year.

I remember what was probably the longest awards/ retreat I have ever been involved in. 1991 DCM finals. After all the the captions and final scores were announced , Pionner played their whole show while the announcer kept saying "Pioneer, You may now exit the field." I know that I and a few people around me were cussing them under our breaths.
That was the same retreat as the infamous Cavalier/Madison Scout drum war as we were going onto the field. They kept banging into each other, I was next to a Cavie tenor so I took alot of the punishment that he was getting from the Scouts. Then all of the sudden, A Madison bass drum went rolling down the field with drummer behind giving chase.
Also that year, we had a pet gold fish on tour who died in Alexandria Kentucky. He was buried on the field in front of our horn block. Our drum major stopped and saluted on his way up to the front.
1992 somewhere in Michigan. Alcohol was served at the show so our ageouts were allowed to have a drink after our performance and then sit inthe stands during retreat. Well a few of them may of had one too many and started yelling at us about the way we marched onto the field, our posture and just cat-calling. Drum line tossed candy back and forth with another corps--we got our butts chewed out for that one.
Keep them coming!

As well as in Columbus also---called Flaggots http://www.flaggotsohio.org/There is one in Toronto, as well. -
That Madison T isn't bad, but why Dick Tracy? Dick Tracy and City of Angels have nothing to do with each other, except that the one is a detective comic strip, the other is a Broadway musical tangentially about a detective...
I guess because it made a sweet looking shirt :P

In 2 parts......
And from Limited Edition in the late 80's early 90's
-
X-Men early 90's with Bones on it.
Madison Scouts 91-The Dick Tracy profile shirt--I'll see if I can scan it.
