Well, this is from the Bluecoats description of their show. If that is what you are asking for...
The Woods (Chick Corea) were all around me as I wandered among the trees amidst the birdsongs and ambient sounds of nature. All at once, I stepped out of the forest and into the enchanting landscape of The Garden of Love (William Blake & Jacob TV), where I had once spent so much blissful time. Surrounded by soaring butterflies, blooming flowers, brilliant colors, and green grass, I was quickly immersed in all that was beautiful. Topiaries and a flourishing greenhouse appeared as the melody of dance enhanced the sights and sounds around me.
I went to the Garden of Love,
And saw what I never had seen:
A Chapel was built in the midst,
Where I used to play on the green.I celebrated life, freedom, and passion as I contemplated the complexities of the future. In this apparent paradise, I searched for harmony, light and truth. Even as a chapel arose and threatened to contain my spirit, I found myself Finding and Believing (Pat Metheny) in the sacred space that enveloped me.
And the gates of this Chapel were shut,
And 'Thou shalt not' writ over the door;
So I turn'd to the Garden of Love,
That so many sweet flowers bore. But all was not as it had first appeared. I began to consider the darker side of my youthful idyll. A sinister element intruded, fiery and uncertain. I remembered sadness and found myself haunted, without knowing what the truth is - 45 (Bon Iver). Then, suddenly – Bump (Anna Meredith) – I was jolted from this reverie by a metaphysical darkness that descended upon my world. Light, liberty, and love were supplanted by rules, restrictions, and repression. The delight and satisfaction that came so easily at first were now thwarted by the shrouded figure of convention.
And I saw it was filled with graves,
And tomb-stones where flowers should be:
And Priests in black gowns, were walking their rounds,
And binding with briars, my joys & desires. And yet, after this time of dark contemplation, the foreboding shadows faded, and a heartwarming lightness crept back into the Garden. The complexity of life was revealed and I realized that it takes pain and sadness melded with joy and beauty to create the complex reality of our world. In fact, So Many Layers of Colour Become a Deep Purple Heart (Edda Magnason) as we navigate our way through life’s earthly gardeestless quest for happiness.
Its not what im really asking for...or the point. Would you, or the general audience spectator, been able to write this after seeing their show upon a viewing.

BS: "In Absintheia": The green makes sense. The boxes are sugar cubes. Spoon slides. Cool stuff. Cool colors. What does it all mean though? They're very good, but where does it start, where do we go, why do we go there, and where do we end? Why do they switch from purples/oranges/blacks to greens? Great drum corps and very cute, but what's the purpose of it all? I want to be bought in, but I'm having to figure out how to buy in. All the elements are great, I just miss the overall point (and I'm saying this as someone who drank Absinthe in France before the EU banned the wormwood version).
I dont know..... What does, phantom, cavilers, crowns, blue devils, blue coats, etc... show all mean. If you could please do a detailed description of what all of the corps shows mean, where they take you/the point they are making, and the story the are telling,.... the same request you are making of Blue Stars, I will be happy to listen.

You can be negative and hate everything going on or be positive and enjoy what we have before we have to wait months again. Im gonna go with be positive like I have all season. Everyone complained War and Peace was to straight forward and they went a complete 180 with this years show and now people say its too confusing. They took a risk and personally I like it. Do I have things I wish were different? Yeah but im picky and not a judge so nobody cares what I think. You and I both read the same messages from all the parents saying how their kids have been calling and telling them how great of an experience it is, how great the staff has been, and how much they love the show. (also helps you say manipulation in both 😛)
I love the direction the Blue Stars have taken this year; innovative, futuristic, boundary pushing artistic sound in motion. There is no other show in artistic vison or style like it this year! unfortunately it has not been supported by the powers at be....yet! I honesty don't think they know what to make of this show..... or are intimidated by it... especially coming from the Blue Stars! It is hard being the tip of the plow... often taking the greatest hits and blows paving the way for others. The manipulation began at the FIRST SHOW with a GE performance score higher then the repertoire... to be followed by wack a mole marks in sub-captions all summer. I am glad the Blue Stars continue to be one of the best marching experiences for members in all of DCI. My sincere hope is they finish strong and continue pushing boundaries on and off the field... GO BLUE STARS!!!! FCO!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lets hop in our time machine and travel back to 2008. The Glassmen existed and were sitting in 9th place after the 2 days in allentown beating Boston and BK head to head continuously the rest of the season. Quarters Semis Finals they placed 11th every day. What happens this week doesnt dictate the results next week. Those 3 days before prelims are very important.
(and it still stings to this day)
you are right, a lot can happen in the final 2 weeks of season,,, I truly hope things go in a positive manner you are suggesting....considering the manipulation we have seen thus far

Their scores rise and fall so much between shows it’s unlike any other corps right now. How does a corps GE go up .9 then next night down.9. At the same time perc swings in the opposite direction along with brass. It’s like the judges are trying to keep them down.
good questions

Still trying to figure out the pronunciation; is it pronounced "absent"? I get both 'absent' & 'absouth' in google. 🧐
ab sin th
think of abs like your stomach muscles , then sin like being sinful, and then the sound of "th" like the beginning of the word "the"

I'm not a qualified judge but I was in the stadium and I also do not understand Cavies beating Blue Stars in brass. BS sounded wonderful live; balance, articulation, tone, all top notch. Cavies had some nice moments but a lot if it was rough.
more judging anomalies!!!! I truly dont think the judges can wrap their mind around what they are actually seeing or hearing from the Blue Stars this year. Everyone can see /hear it!!! It is really inexcusable.!!!!!!! especially the horn and MA scores and overall spreads ... Makes you wonder?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

I guess I need to partake in something, the show does nothing for me. I can tell the talent level and performance is much better than the others so far, but it is just meh to me.
Felt about the same with last years show as well

In a world where so much drill happens in front of the hashes after moving the judges off the field I love that Blue Stars aren’t afraid to still explore the whole field.
is hard to do, thus not many do it

Love how much the tubes change orientation throughout the show, would be easy to use them in the opener and then chunk them off to the side until later.
watch them dance, is great

changing of the guard is hard to get used to not only by fans, but by judges! Boston first to break in ........ etc...etc...

I predict the PR -BS spread changes quite a bit tonight, and do Cavs open with a 70?
Well, in lieu of the GE judging anomaly given to the Blue Stars in Rockford, among other things, I agree 100% with this statement. My guess things may be a little different/closer this evening with a different panel!!!

And the white box props are sugar cubes!? Did you see the guard members inside the straws at one point. I thought that was just fantastic.
Love the blind rifle flip toss over the straws/tubes.....or how about the guard member standing on top of one of the spoon slides, throws up her saber, slides down the spoon slide and then catch it at the bottom of the slide!

how was the performance order selected for this show? seems odd to me? was it random draw?

I guess this would be the "Old Milwaukee" ritual. Which corps would program this next year? 🤭
Well, they do distill absinthe in Milwaukee at the Great Lakes Distillery...one of the few places that distill absinthe in the United States

This is the genius of this show, it is a concept show, not the traditional theme or story show the Blue Stars have done for years. Its designed to generate an emotion/experience in the viewer, not unlike what happens to one when they drink absinthe. The experience will be different for everyone. Pay attention to what you experienced, your mood! You may be happy, sad, silly, angry, may not even understand it; your in absinthe. All I know is this show has a forward look and feel. Has you on the edge of your seat in a mystical, energetic, powerful and hypnotic way.. Cant wait to see how it develops over the season, much more to come im sure. Go Blue Stars, FCO
