randomnoise
We have been practicing all year - now it's time to perform! For all the folks who are on the left coast - be there and enjoy over 200 horns, including the full hornlines of the Concord Blue Devils and the Santa Clara Vanguard!!! For the lucky performers - gear up - it's time to rock and roll. Here's the info for this weekend: 12:30 – 1pm Arrive at Stanford University. We will meet at the practice field behind Maples Pavilion, near the Aquatic Center and baseball stadiums. 1:00 – 3pm Rehearsal with Dave Carico 3:15pm (app) Perform at BBQ Performance order will be determined on the spot – be prepared to play any and all tunes. Attire: Alumni shirt. Pants or shorts are fine – your choice. Hats are ok. After we perform and eat BBQ, we will put our equipment on the rental truck until our night performance. 7:00pm If you are borrowing a horn from the B corps, meet them outside the stadium at the corps entry gate as they exit the field. 10:25pm End of BDA show. At this time, you will exit the stadium and meet up at the truck to get equipment. Do not wait until after BDC Corps (sorry). Also, please do not walk across the field – exit the stadium and walk around to where the corps enter. 10:45pm Re-enter the stadium to perform 11:00pm Exit the stadium, turn in all borrowed horns. 11:01pm PARTY!!! Performance Order: Since I Fell For You, conducted by BD Alum DM Vanguardian Sketches, conducted by Alex Bernstein of the Santa Clara Vanguard Free (with the BD Drum line, who will line up behind the horn arcs), conducted by BD Alum DM Happy Days/Music of the Night, conducted by Chris Nalls Attire: Alumni shirt, black shoes, black socks, black slacks, black belt. No hats. We will try to play a few notes before we line up, but we may not get the chance. Be flexible, attentive and ready to move at a moment’s notice. DC and I, along with Directors (and horn staff) of the A corps will tell you what to do and where to line up. Order will be Contras, then Trumpets and Sops, then mids and baris. We will be performing in three arcs: Contras and Tubas across the front, an arc of Trumpets and Sopranos behind that, and Middlehorns and Baritones behind that. Sops and Trumpets will be arranged high to low, right to left (like the warm up arc). Next arc will be Lead Mellos through French Horns, then Third Baris to Lead Baris. If that is confusing, don’t worry – we’ll make it clear at rehearsal and before we go on. After we perform, we will exit the stadium. It is important to note that we must leave the field – all hypin’ should be done after we exit the stadium. Treat this just like a show in your junior corps days – professional and efficient. It has been a great journey, and I am proud and honored to have been a part of the fun. This performance will truly be one to remember!
