Kansan
Prairie Sound Drum & Bugle Corps: We are always looking for new talent. Brass: Our Brass Book is about 1/2 complete for this years show entitled "Tent Meeting Revival". We are looking to add more High Brass Including Soprano Players and Mellophone Players. We have a good Low Brass Section but will not turn anyone away who would like to play Baritone or Contra. We are also slowly finding Color Guard who are interested. This unit will start to form up in March. Percussion: We have receantly recieved several inquiries from Drummers interested in joining our Line. We'll have to see who is serious and who isn't. We are looking to borrow some Pit Equipment for a small pit section 3 to 5 people. Performance Plans: Our immediate performance plans include a thank you concert for the Olathe Wesleyan Church this Spring and our first field performance at Brass Hysteria. We will be appearing in the KC metro area at possibly 3 venues yet to be decided. We are currently discussing the possibility of joining a Mini Corps type curcuit. Our 2009 goal will be to Perform in Texas and up North at DCA Central shows as well as one of the Mini Corps Circuits. If all goes really well we may entertain the possibility of some sort of DCA Finals appearance. (Depends on what we can afford) Jeff. highcountrymike
Thanks for asking about High Country Brass! We've been extremely busy getting ready for the next several months! High Country Brass is alive and thriving in the Denver Metro area! We have been rehearsing every weekend since October and will begin performing at the WGI shows starting on the 1st of March and going 6 straight weekends. We have a very exciting floor show and are excited to start working on our Summer field show. The summer show will be an expansion of what we have been working on this Winter. We are planning on attending Brass Hysteria In Texas in june and have several DCI shows in our area that we are planning on performing at this Summer as well. We will be in the top 100 units for the Denver St. Patricks day parade on March 15, 2007 and we will be performing the song Danny boy as well as some of the corps favorites including our 2008 opener Ravels Bolero. Pretty heady stuff! We are growing in membership weekly and are planning our next open house on April 6th , 2008. Go to our website at Highcountrybrass.org for more info and some cool pictures of our new battery! We can't wait to get out there and meet all of the folks we talk to on the forums! Our corps has grown to 45 members including the guard, hornline and battery but we are always on the lookout for more members! We would love to be at 60 members by this summer. We have the equipment just need the dedicated people to make it happen( this will make our director, Drew Tyburczy turn pale) LOL Looking forward to seeing you all soon, Mike Ryan HCB Board member
Shadow_7
I thought Austin Starts where going to do Class A? That's the plan afaik. However we still need a few more members to qualify to compete. A lot of talent in the hornline so far. But we're currently looking at 9-19 horns, 1-10 drums, 5-20 colorguard. Openings in all sections, with emphasis on Baris, Trumpets, Drums and Colorguard. March 1st is the next camp. The first time all sections of the corps will be together. And supposedly starting drill too. Unofficially of course as I'm just a member. And my prespective might be underinformed. We've grown from the 5-6 horns of last season. But maybe not enough to satisfy the requirements of Class A. Only time will tell. If there wasn't a minimum requirement, we'd be there no questions asked. BUT.......
