dancingfrog
Defenders Alumni Corps, of Rockland, MA, is our newest member! This excellent and fast-growing corps brings YET ANOTHER unique style to MCA! And a GREAT addition to the Championship show! WELCOME, Defenders!!!! I loved the Defenders when they were a junior corps. Caught a glimpse of Defender Alumni on YouTube. They are incredible. Many of the Alumni Corps are large and can carry their own in the music quality category. It would be nice if DCA added another division for the Alumni Corps so that they can compete at the different shows.

Your corps wants to compete, there are two divisions you can pick from - Open Class or Class A. All-age. No need for another division. brassomaniac
A great way for an Alumni Corps to participate in competition: Mini-Corps Many Alumni corps have produced Mini-Corps in recent years... with some great success: Amoskeag Sound is a performance unit of the Manchester Muchachos. St. Kevin Emerald Knights have competed as a Mini-Corps in recent years. Capital Brass! is an Alumni reorganization of Capitol Brass Ensemble field corps Erie Thunderbirds jump-started the modern Mini-Corps movement, with their Alumni Corps St. Brassmen competed at the Bugler's Hall of Fame Championship Seldon Cadets, as well Pembroke Imperials last year Defenders Alumni are scheduled for MCA Albany Mini-Corps is especially suited for Alumni programs, IMO. A unit can be produced on a reseanable, even spartan, budget. And (great for old guys like me) the performance can be a standstill, or with limited "staging" or drill moves. Best Yet: With the limitation on numbers (22).... Mini-Corps can be an activity for those in your Alumni Corps who still want a little taste of competition, while the rest of your corps can still participate in all of your other Alumni performances... not necessary to drag everyone over to the idea of competition. Through the years, several promoters have tried to set the stage for Alumni Corps competitions. the response from the corps has been a resounding NO ... no scores ... no stinkin' judges ... no ... no ... no ... Players in all the Alumni Corps have found enough outlets to compete when they feel the need ...
