bhs alumni
but do all the corps actually go through the process of receiving all the licenses? CopyCat (which charges DCA and open class, yet DCI pays for the world class) only does audio, right?
audiodb
The corps have to get permission to arrange and perform the music. DCI gets the permission for broadcasts and recordings. I don't know who pays which fees, though.
whystarwhy
Good points here, it always frustrates me that I must resort to a jumpy old VHS or camcorder vid from the 20 just to see some of my shows. Lame. The audio production on the recent 2/3 and Open DVD's are noticeably lower than World. The frequencies don't even activate my subwoofer! Whoever is selling a CD or DVD pays mechanical licensing, almost always, regardless of what part of the industry you're in. Meaning DCI needs to pay the fees. They are extremely small however.
