pooh bear
Yep - Blue Devils have always had FULL horn lines Royal Airs Line up - not sure of exact numbers - but here goes 35 sopranos - plenty of "legends" 16 mellophones - to rival the "power alley" 20 baritones - 7 euphoniums 10 contras I think we will be in the neighborhood of 80 to 88 players. Remember - 60 horn players in TUNE can sound like 80... Should be a fun summer-can't wait to blow some people away.

randomnoise
Remember - 60 horn players in TUNE can sound like 80... Agreed - IMO the two loudest hornlines in 86 were also the two smallest (BD and SCV)!
The Tiger of San Pedro
In 98 we had the strangest breakdown I've ever seen, but by golly it worked. Â Went like this. 7 Leads (3 upper, 4 lower) 5 Seconds 8 Euphs (Every once in a while split 4 and 4) I REALLY liked the sound that we got as a line with this set-up - so many leads meant none of us had to play that loud =P Â So many euphs meant we had plenty of beef! (I think we had two college bass trombonists in that Eupho line... wow!) When the top was split, we had a 3-4-5-8 breakdown going on - THAT was cool. RenegadeDM
I would build it like a triangle. More on the low end and less on top. 4 leads 5 2nds 6 3rds 7 Euphs. This would help with blend of the sound and create more volume! Better for tuning as well.
BOSTONEUPH
All euphs, thats the dream line, The Whole Corps full of Contras and Euphs, that would be cool
