I and E question

To any and all who may know.

If a corps marches G bugles the entire season but a member wants to play a B-flat horn for I and E, is this permissible? Or would the individual have to perform on the instrument that the corps is fielding for that particular season?

So:

If a soprano player in the "insert corps name here" is playing on a G bugle for the season with the corps and wants to play DCI I & E on a B-flat trumpet, can he do it?

Please advise.

Thank you for your time.

Doesn't matter - you can do I&E on any legal instrument - does not have to be the one you march with.

Just found out through DCI that a member of a corps can play on his B-flat trumpet for I &E if he is a trumept player by nature. But using a concert French horn, Trombone, Euphonium or Tuba is not permissible. If you are curious about this please contact DCI and ask for the Individual and Ensemble judges coordinator.

Thought I would let you know.

Yep, anything that's legal on the field is legal for I&E.

Only bellfront instruments are legal, otherwise I don't think it would be a problem.
