echano77
Shortly past 2 PM yesterday afternoon, Drum Corps lost one if its legendary icons. Ralph Silverbrand was the Drum Major of the Hawthorne Caballeros from 1955 until 1968. In 1959 he founded the Hawthorne Muchachos. He was a member of the World Drum Corps Hall of Fame and also the New Jersey and Massachusetts Drum Corps Halls of Fame. No information is available yet regarding arrangements. Antique Brass
How sad. Ralph Silverbrand, the ultimate 'Good Guy'. Our condolences go out to the Silverbrand family and his Caballeros family. A.B.
Navillus WP
I saw and heard the Caballeros Alumni Corps perform its tribute to Ralph at the Plymouth Reunion Concert on Saturday night. Two of his daughters were in the audience. Larry Kirchner's arrangement of "Taps" was haunting and almost symphonic. And Ralph was smiling "Up There" after the Alumni's rendition of his favorite Cabbie's number, "Cherry Blossom Pink & Apple Blossom White." Class, and classic.
