trh
Since I am currently unable to private lessons and am well ahead of my peers, I have been trying to expand my musical abilities on my own! So I've been teaching myself to do the whole multi phonics thing, and so far I can Play a Bb, hum the Bb and slide up to a third, 5th, and sometimes I can pull off an octave. Anybody have some good tips? You start by driving a nail through your skull. It's kind of like being able to pat your head and rub your stomach at the same time: you're trying to do two related but different things at once and it takes a bit to train your brain to coordinate them. But as in the case of those two actions, once you've done it, you're usually left asking yourself why you took the time. It's also a lot harder on smaller mouthpieces than it is on larger ones, for whatever reason. Because 'doing it for the sake of being able to do it' makes a lot of sense, too. pnmtech
Just out of curiousity, does anyone know of solo or ensemble pieces that were written to include multi phonics?
nukeme70
Just out of curiousity, does anyone know of solo or ensemble pieces that were written to include multi phonics? Suprised that Oystein Baadsvik hasn't come up in this topic yet (skip to 2:30ish if you don't want the monologue): Here's where to get sheet music for it: http://euphonium.com/store/index.php?_a=viewProd&productId=143 He also performed the piece as an orchestral ensemble/tuba feature: Edited August 28, 2012 by nukeme70
