Northern Thunder
These are those musical numbers that seemed completely out-of-character from a corps' past history. Three that immediately come to mind are: "Dark Orchid"--1976 Santa Clara Vanguard--- Sammy Nestico's high-powered big band jazz chart seemed to be opposite of what any of us expected from SCV. A real surprise. "Colas Breugnon Overture"--1983 Madison Scouts--- None of us expected to hear Madison play serious opera music after years of pop, jazz, Broadway and film music. "Petrouchka"--1988 Spirit of Atlanta--- Spirit??? Playing Igor Stravinsky??? That was really a surprise.
