High Country Brass Open House Recap

Open House recap:

We met at Crest Hill Middle School at around 8:00 AM to get things

set up. A quick staff meeting took place to get our assignments. We

then got all of the equipment out of the cars and from the school and

delivered percussion equipment to the band room and brass equipment

to the choir room. At around 9:00 the registration began. After all

of us checked in we began to grab equipment. The drum line worked

exercises that were well prepared by Micha, at the same time the

brass line was given four charts and the first notes were played by

High County Brass. A cool moment for me. The brass line was hard to

work with the few people we had attending but all worked very hard to

get things going.

Each group took breaks from time to time, and all just wanted

to check up on the other section to see how they were doing. Before

we knew it was 11:00 AM. The brass line worked on Battle Hymn, Hey

Pachocho, Autumn Leaves and The Star Spangled Banner. Things were

actually starting to come together. Then the sad part, as twelve o'

clock approached the most used words were " one more time". Just to

get one more stab in at what we worked on. The drum line is sounding

good at this point.

A quick meeting at the end to decide the next date of January

9th to be the next time we will meet. A few tasks and ideas were

exchanged and the rehearsal was deemed as over. Everyone seemed to

have a great time, it felt like an old family environment that I used

to march in.
