cheezedogg 23
F- tuning in short hand. (Thinking in C major here. ) All on C.. then to the 5th, then add the 3rd. Fmaj - Gmaj - Cmaj. play at 3 volume levels ending the loudest. Its that easy. I like to put after the Cmaj chord is first played I go to a minor 3, Eminor chord for flavor. I cant' think of other chord progressions of the top of my head. I know the bass line to a Cadets progression. It starts on C and goes down by half steps to G. I'm sure you can fill in the gaps using standard counterpoint. I something like I - V65 - V7/IV - IV6 - bVI 7 (german 6 I believe its also known) and finally Sus V, resolution V - I Thats all I can think of right now. shoot me an email or PM I have a few finale files I could send ya, they are corps arrangments, but you can rewrite them for bands no problem. csugrad
Another suggestion... go to the Blue Devils site and order the DYNASTY OF BRASS DVD. YOu get to see them in action performing their warm up and technique series and you can print it out to follow along and use too. It is a great tool for teaching brass players.
