Austin Stars Advisory Board

The Austin Stars, a new senior corps project under way in Austin, Texas, have chosen an advisory board to help form a solid foundation for the future of the corps.

The advisory board members are…

Stephan Anderman, founding member and secretary of the board of Music City Legend and former member (including board of directors) of many other junior and senior corps including the New York Skyliners.

Mike New, former web master for Drum Corps Planet and current member and web master for Silver Thistle Pipes & Drums of Austin, Texas.

Chris Green, founder of Frontier from Dallas, Tx. co-founder of Carolina Gold and former member of Carolina Crown. Mr. Green has been a driving force behind the explosive growth of the drum corps activity, especially senior corps, in the past six years.

Jim Reed, a highly renowned show designer and arranger, founding member of Music City Legend, director of bands at Goodpasture Christian School in Nashville and alumni of Spirit of Atlanta.

Scott Rhodes, co-founder and executive director of Music City Legend, founding member of the Corps Vets and alumni of Phantom Regiment.

Jason Rose, founder and executive director of Gulf Coast Sound, former member of the Bayou City Blues and former member of The United States Marine Corps.

The Austin Stars will be founded as a 501c3 non-profit organization by 2006 and will field it’s first competitive corps in the Summer of 2007. Corps membership is open to all adults age 18 and up with previous marching experience. They will exclusively and proudly use horns pitched in the key of “G”. Applications are now being accepted for all sections including performers (brass, percussion, color guard) designers, instructors, board of directors and support staff. In addition we will be organizing the 2006 Texas Drum Corps Preview. Plans are to have all Texas corps perform at the State Capitol in Austin sometime in June just before the corps begin their competitive season. Plans include a picnic and pool party for corps mmebers and staffs.
