mbiquad2001
Personally I've never been a fan of the rack. It's just a little too "old school" for me. While flashy, the parts played on them usually aren't that hard. It's a huge piece of equipment that is a bear to move around. However, it's good for a loud jazz/rock show when the horns need to be backed up by a drumset-style part. BD running around the rack in 2002 was most definitely demanding and fun to watch. Blast! did a nice modernization of the rack too. What are your thoughts? What about you guys that have played on a rack?
RobH
Need a good definition of "rack" - I've got a "rack" drumset but not sure what the meaning of "rack" is wrt drum corps - is this a pit thing? Or is there an example you can use so I can visualize this?

mbiquad2001
I'm referring to the '02 "Jazz: Made in America" show. '03 works too though- thanks
drumcorpbc
I'm starting to think that rack's are becoming cliche. Not quite Appalachian Spring, or West Side Story cliche, but close.
RobH
Thanks for those links - actually I think rack drumming has a place in drum corps - but as PART of a percussion show and not the whole thing!
