Cowtown: I am correct on what I wrote, based on what I found on Corpsreps. I mentioned Finals in Whitewater, not Montreal. Whitewater was two days before Cincinnati.

Please contact Chris Maher at Corpsreps.com, chris@corpsreps.com, and let him know about this, as the show isn't listed on the site. Chris is always eager to add info to his site, which is so valuable to me and others. He will need the scores to all the corps in that contest.

I am a HUGE fan of Corpsreps.com, and if anyone spots anything that should be added or changed, please let Chris know.

I don't think Blue Devils get enough credit for the different direction they took with the guard uniforms starting in 1981. Unless someone has a better example (and my memory serves me correctly), I think this was the first time that a guard uniform was so different in comparison to the corps uniform. They may have had the same color combination, but the uniforms were unique.

The first time I saw it I wasn't impressed, but how many times in this activity have each of us said that when something has taken a 180 degree turn? I look at them now and think it was a bold statement and one that changed the activity.

Then in '82 Garfield decides that their guard won't wear anything on their head except a white flower in their hair.

Things have never been the same since.

That's addressed in the article.

Does anyone else remember the Freelancers "Coca-Cola" guard bodysuits/leotards from their 1979 "The Wiz" show? Those preceded what Blue Devils did by two years.
