  1. Would have loved to go tonight, but $18x2 was a bit steep with money being tight.
  2. I'd really like to see the recaps. Any idea if they will be posted at all?
  3. Crown was absolutely awesome. My ear drum gets fuzzy and distorted when it gets too loud, and it was that way for most of the show.
  4. Big fan of their battery. They have some serious attitude. I wouldn't want to cross any of them.
  5. I haven't seen any, but my eyes have been glued on the field. Sucks if true, but weve only got coats and crown left.
  6. The Cadets were very good. I am definitely a fan of that show.
  7. Just saw an old friend from college (who spent time working with Pioneer this summer) and he asked me what i thought of the BD show. His quote? "I don't think i did enough cocaine to get it". Lol
  8. My wife and I couldn't get in for The Cavaliers. We were in the large group stuck under the stands. I like Boston's show concept, but the drill seems very easy until the last few minutes. BD was clean, but I don't understand their show at all. SCV has been my favorite so far, and I think the rest of the audience feels the same way with the standing ovation they received. Rennick is going to do great things for them, that line was clean as bottled water.
  9. I think you pretty much answered most of your own question in regards to the differences between Gwaltney and Rennick. The amazing thing about this activity is the differences you will find from corps to corps. I think the only way to really judge solely based on talent would be if every line had the same book and technique (Cadets use a different grip and stroke compared to PR, SCV, Cavies, etc). You touched on one important part, and that's the musicality of the book. I personally saw this bigtime in SCV between 2004 and later years after Murray left. The 2004 book was a night and day difference from some of the others. Unfortunately (well, in your case since you're a PR fan and I'm a SCV fan ), the idea of moving from corps to corps as a member can lead to one corps having better talent than the next. However, this is also a good thing because that means students and corps members will always demand top talent for teaching, which obviously leads to overall better musicians.
  10. I haven't seen a topic on this show yet, so I figured I would start one. I've never been to nightBEAT before, only DCI Atlanta in 2008. I downloaded the media guide, which does help a bit in figuring out the area in terms of parking and other amenities. I was wondering if anyone knows where the corps will be warming up. I'd really like to watch SCV in the lot. At Atlanta in 08, we didn't know the area and didn't see any warmups. TIA.
  11. For those just joining the conversation (or havent looked back to around page 33/34), I was the one that took some recordings while at Crown ensemble rehearsal Saturday (6/9). I was then asked to make them private by Eric until the season starts. I respected his request and made them private. The only reason why I recorded them was because it was my first rehearsal I've watched (Ive only been to 1 show, Atlanta 2008). The inlaws live in Shelby, which is right next to Boiling Springs. No way in hell I was going to pass up an opportunity to watch them live. Sorry Ashevillemurphy, I didn't intend for you to be pulled into this. How did you find my video BTW? I know another poster mentioned having a 14 y/o lab, I think I saw him at rehearsal on Saturday.
  12. I didn't realize my youtube videos would cause such a stink. Frankly, I was so excited to record these videos because I haven't seen a corps play live since 2008 in ATL (we had planned on catching NightBEAT last year but it was cancelled). Apologies to anyone harmed by my ignorance.
