  1. I'm not quite sure where this drama comes from. The event went very well. While it's true the regional was not as large as it has been in years past, there was a steady flow of spectators throughout the day, and as with any regional some spectators do not stay for finals if they attend prelims. Also, back in "the days", there were fewer regionals for one and there would sometimes be 10 or more World Class guards at this regional. Over the past several years this is not the case; also there are not as many World Class guards currently. Lastly, many guards choose to compete in the regionals closer to their respective hometowns. Both Shenendehowa and King Philip performed at prelims and finals with their floors. Shen does use a very large, layered floor. There was bit of an issue as far as full fit for their floor for prelims, as Salem HS has been recently renovated and rows of back stands that have been able to be pushed back in the past are now no longer able to be. However, adjustments were made for finals and they performed a full show.
  2. <**> Due to recent issues with our doman name server, the website for Blessed Sacrament is temporarily offline. But don't worry ... we'll be up and running shortly. In the meantime, please see our post on CGP on 2008 Audition information coming up in September ... also SAC will be holding an Open House/Clinic on September 9th from 10 am to 4 pm. This clinic is free to anyone who would like to come to spin and dance with SAC! It's a great prep for those who are thinking of auditioning ... For any questions and information, please be sure to email us at SacWG@aol.com.

  4. The Wild Cats were a scholastic group out of West Bridgewater, Mass that won the Class A title in 1980. Dale Powers was the director. Once they stopped competing, members went on to perform with what was later Emerald Marquis. If you watch Emerald's first few years, you'll see the similar style.
  5. FYI -- Even though a finalist (the guard's first), Blessed Sacrament is not on the tape. It was the year of the "boa" incident. Sac dropped to 16th in finals (16 groups were taken into finals because of a tie, only 15 on the tape) -- feather boas left on the floor were a definite no-no back then. :P
  6. 11:40 a.m. - The show is cancelled. Just spoke with my husband, Ed Devlin, who is on staff. The City of Malden has cancelled use of the field for tonight. Sorry, everybody. There is the show in Brockton tomorrow night. Karen Devlin
