That's OK.... I figured it might be an expenses thing. Not easy these days to put a corps on the road.
Hopefully the missus and I will get to the Plymouth show later this year to see BAC!!!
Yes this a great line-up for SIB...and Boston would had moved it up another notch....
I hope Boston will be at Rochester ....
Any word if there will be a mini-corp show during SIB weekend...

Mario's. It's an Italian steakhouse on Monroe Ave.
Tom Peashey and the folks from Five Star Brass had told us about this place. It was outstanding.
thanks...

Anyone who repeatedly says that things today sucks doesn't get respect from me. It's that simple. Don't like it fine. Go post in the Alumni forum and relive what was great about the old days. No need to insult those who perform today as well as those who appreciate it.

Apologies if I posted this earlier in this thread..... I haven't re-read the whole thing...LOL....
But a few years back a couple of friends from the area took us to a barbecue place called Beale Street, a fairly short ride (about 10 minutes from what I remember) from the downtown hotels.
It was really good.... kind of like a less-touristy version of Dinosaur.
Fran what was the name of the Italian restaurant you found, I think it was last year or the year before ?

Nobody pays to hear any of us Friday night, that's what makes it great! However, it is impractical to have him sit in despite our considering pretty much every option we could think of. If you're there, you'll see why Friday night.
I have seen you many times and I will be there Friday night, if we had to pay for this show, Mass Brass would be worth the admission...
Not to slight any other corps, they are all great and I know the fans thank you all for the hard work done, so you can
entertain us.

Mass Brass:
Spanish Dreams
El Gato Trieste
Jazzmerelda
Due to an unfortunate Archilles injury to one of our sopranos we will now showcase,
6 Sopranos
4 Mellophones
5 Baritones
2 Contra Basses
2 Percussion
ALL in G
1 Conductor
To copy a saying for anther great corps “Nobody pays to hear you march” Put the soprano in chair and let him wail.

Syracuse Brigadiers Alumni will play all 3 national anthems at finals - but were not prepared to do a full show.
This post has gotten way out of hand... there is no point in blasting St. Kevins for pulling out... I'm sure they thought June was plenty of notice... have no idea why this thread has deteriorated so far... So there's 8 corps... Preston Scout House is worth the money and then you get 7 bonuses.... enjoy the show.
Sorry Tom that you think I was blasting St Kevins, I was not............
I am still not sure why DCA didn't inform the fans......
Maybe I am not a fan of Scout House ( I am)
And I would have been happy with Black Saddle and Shanri-La with 2 National Anthems

Actually, maybe it is time for the original poster to request that this thread be closed. Before things get waaayyyy out of hand. Please.
Maybe it is time for DCA to speak-up why they didn't inform the fans about this..
My apologies to St Kevins, at first it sounded that they just canceled out....
Three months, I would think the could find a replacement..
Doesn't Western NY have alum corp, I bet alot them live near Rochester,
how about Syracuse ?
How about one of the Mini corps ?

Any place on DPC with the songs the mini corps or alumni corps are playing ?

Hi All ,
We , St. Kevins , have a very healthy Corps. Seems that after the commitment to attend The DCA Alumni show was made some things changed. A few members of the drum line are attending a family wedding & quite a few other members of the Corps did not want to spend that much money to play at a show. so having a 44 man horn line & going to Rochester with 20 really didn't sit well with the Board of Directors. We played at Gillette Stadium, home of the N.E. Patriots, last week & are playing in Boston tomorrow. Kevins is very healthy & we will see you all at the big Plymouth show in Nov. Best wishes to all & thanks for your concern .
Mike D.
St. Kevins
not being a smart @ss but when I got my tickets the show had nine corps.

OK..Great places to eat in Rochester....

Tapas 151
Pane Vino
Sienna and many clubs
Is Sienna still open ???
Like to go there after prelims...
If it is closed did anything open in the same place ??

Many thanks for the diner info. We're leaving for Scranton in about ten minutes and we're aiming directly for the Glider Diner. 'Course, we won't be getting there until around 7:00, but hopefully they'll wait for us.
Andy
Not the battle of corps but diners..
My pick in Scraton is "Chicks" on Moosic St

And, in fact, it was before my first comment...
But hey...the responses keep the thread on the front page...
Check is in the mail…
GOOD LUCK
I am looking forward to seeing Dream in the Prelims and if they make it, the finals.
I will be in my seat at the start of the prelims.. till the end
I went to the first DCA championships in Milford and have only missed two years up till now….
Even stayed in the stands for the 2006 prelims….
One of the things about DCP is everyone has an opinion about anything written….
Nothing wrong with this….
I believe Sam did not mean anything about me not using internet banking.
Just think if I gave my opinions of drum corps now...
Or
Gave a review of the shows I go to…
Or
even Fran’s shirts
Just helping to keep this thread on the front page….

Don't expect to find anything for dinner AFTER finals. In '07 we ended up scoring turkey sandwiches from a convenience store deep inside the East Side. (Not for the faint of heart.)
Rochester Plaza for the past couple years has set up a grill on its patio to after 1AM Sunday night for quick service.. (may be not that quick) Plus they have the regular menu. Prices are the same…
Maybe this is Gil's influence

Do you have US mail address..
don't use internet for money matters..
Make check out to ???

Many thanks for the info, Pete. Cynthia and I are looking forward to it.
We'll be going Friday evening - after we arrive in Kingston. We don't really have time between rehearsal and the show, and the corps always has its picnic/barbeque there at the stadium, so Saturday is out.
And if it's within walking distance of the stadium, then I have a pretty good idea of where it is - saving us that trip down the hill to the river.
Andy
Two things you got to try
Fricasse of Snail with Mushroom & Cognac Flambe
Bouquet D’Endive - Walnuts, Roquefort & House Vinaigrette
entres are not cheap but it is worth it....
very professional staff
They make a great Manhatton on the rocks...

Okay, now you have my attention!!!
My wife and I usually go to the seafood joint down on the river, but this French restaurant sounds intriguing.
Do you have a name for it??
Andy the Glutton (which is French for Gourmet, I think)
http://le-canardenchainesrestaurant.com/default.aspx
Le Canard Enchaine, the best French Restaurant in the Hudson Valley....
Always have dinner then come back after the show for desert.
Pete
ps walking distance from Dietz
see you there....
-
If you decision to attend is swayed against by the off chance of a few extra minutes of entertainment, you probably shouldn't be buying a ticket in the first place.
Clearly you're missing the whole point.
You don't have to till me if I should buy a ticket or not...
If the pre show is something like what Sky did in the early 80's or Empire in the 90's, I would take this "few extra minutes of entertainment"
But if it is DCI cr@p then no thank you...
What point am I missing.....
Pete
-
If someone doesn't like it, they can visit the restroom or grab a hot dog.
Or not buy a ticket at all
-
Chris......you will need to hunt down the "Kiltie Khoir".
We don't do I & E (because of the menu of tunes), but you will be enlightened and carry back with you some lyrics and tunes you never thought a normal human being was capable of.
Caution; what you may hear is being done by professionals so don't try it at home (or you'll be tossed in jail)
Sorry Bill,
After being stationed in London for two years and playing rugby every Saturday, if that corps has any rugby players
they will give you a new list of songs.....
