  1. Then they should have spoken up when they had the chance. No Offence. It blocking the middle of the floor in my bedroom. If this deal falls through, which is slim. I'll offer it up again. I don't get any solid action with offers until I pull my auction. Doesn't seem fair to me either. I wanted this horn gone. Need the space plus the money helps. It wasn't due to it getting enough action. I was made an offer just Prior to listing it on ebay, they needed budget approval and got it. I pulled my auction so I wouldn't have anyone all bent out of shape because they won a horn that may be sold and shipped to another Party. I'm trying to walk a narrow line of ethics, and I stand behind my choice. I think it was fair to all parties. Would you have prefered for me to let the auction end out, and say to the high bidder. Oh sorry I can't sell you the horn because I sold it to this guy other guy over here. That would first violate the rules of ebay. And make me look more of an ###hole than I already am. I thought it over long and hard before ending that auction. I stand behind it considering it the best choice in this situation. Thanks
  2. Bach Mercedes Marching Brass in the 1980's were direct copies of the olds marching brass. They bought the tooling from olds for marching brass, and Low brass when olds closed in 1979. The newer stuff has been redesigned, and oddly enough does look like yamaha. I don't know why the did it... I always thought you don't fix what ain't broke. Bach's better idea. I Guess.
  3. I'm still waiting on a new Mouthpipe Neck for my Contra from Kanstul Now heading into week four.. For Odd Brass Mouthpieces I'd try dillon Music. They have lots of everything in stock. Call in the order it's normally faster than the net. I'm lucky I can drive there.. Just can't afford the gas home.. LOL
  4. My Extra Kanstul 3v G Contra is on ebay, I was asking 650 for it in the DCP Marketplace Make me a fair offer and I'll cancel the auction. It needs work. Thanks Pat http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=7353020169
  5. What did the Schilke 59 Run You By the Way??? I'm trying to get a couple more of these old King Made in Germany Bass Bone Mouthpieces. I like the feel of rim on them a lot. Shame they don't make them anymore.
  6. 51D or 52's are great mouthpieces. I use them on my Olds Marching Trombone, and 1950 Ambassador Slide Bone. It gives them a wicked cool Big Band Bone Sound!
  7. If the Current Deal Falls Through. I'll Buzz you a PM
  8. Listen to me when I tell you if you play a Kanstul Euphonium with a Schilke 51D or 52 even they do not fill up the horn. On a Concert horn with its large bows and gracefull crooks. Yes they are ample and beautiful the Kanstul Euph Bugle Is Huge!! Compared to any euphonium. The Large mouthpiece will allow most not all but most players to fill the entire horn with sound. Not just the end where it comes out. You have to try it and play it to understand. I've told this to folks until I was blue in the face and spitting like a mad dog. Trust me. In this instance bigger is Better! I can play above the First bari parts and pedal below the thirds without straining my lip or lungs. The tone that pours out is rich and thick. You can feel the whole horn vibrate while playing. Which is the whole key to playing a brasswind horn. Be one with the horn.. Someone Mentioned a .593 Bore on the Kanstul Euph. Most Small 3/4 Tuba's only run Bores in can run as low as .630 Although .660 is the smallest I'd reccomend for a tuba. Which really isn't a big jump. Most Bass Bones are a little smaller than the Euph Around .562 or so is most popular. I think that is standard on Edwards Bass Bones. So the Larger the mouthpiece for the larger bore horn. Now wouldn't that be logical.. Oh Crap, you got me ranting now...
  9. I put this Up on Ebay Earlier Tonight. Give it a good home. :( Contra On Ebay
  10. Where is Olds LOL. They pioneered some awesome sweet maching brass, not just bugles.. Shame they are so hard to get now adays I'd love to see a corps field a line of redone Olds Brass. ::Proud owner of Olds Marching Trombone - Ambassador Cornet, Trumpet, and Slide Bone too:: Today I'd say King and Kanstul are on even ground for marching brass. Yamaha is marginally Decent, and dynasty, Drop the Dy and you have Nasty!! Kanstul is really pumping out beautiful playing and Balanced equipment. For a smaller business to keep up with a corporate giant like King is amazing. My two cents... For Free My Vote went to Kanstul.. I Vote for what I own!
  11. Shipping these Grande's Domestically is hard enough because of their size. DHL -FedEx and UPS Consider them Freight when shipping them overseas. Which for this horn to manila would run you over A Grand. Just to Ship.. This is due to the Size=Weight Formula they use to calculate your rate. Which is like this Length X Width X Height = / 166 Which gives you the Sized Weight, and for this contra Although Packed it would only weight 40 pounds. According to the Carrier it would weigh about 180 pounds. You see the problem. Thanks Pat
  12. I Use a Kanstul G Euph in parades. (I'm Normally a contra.) I found using the German King 1 1/4 H Is a Fantastic mouthpiece on this horn Its HUGE I can use it to play on my Contra is so Huge. I also Used 5GS. And the larger you go the better it gets on the kanstul euph. Intonation, Control, and tone is so much better.. Finally Someone else Learned my Discovery!
  13. I have a Kanstul Grande 3 Valve G Contra That is in need of some help. The 4th and 5th Branches are twisted and kinked in several places. And the 2nd valve Direct all email to me at sonofjabba@comcast.net Thanks Check ebay For it now Contra on eBay
  14. If I had the Cash It would be mine, But money isn't there. It is cheap. New that bike runs for about 20 grand. 8k miles is almost a joke motor isn't even broke in yet. Ebay you'd get about $15,000+ for it without much trouble. Take Good Pictures of it in mid day sunlight from every angle, Just watch your shadows, and focus, before snapping away. I'm sure the folks on eBay will be more than willing to fork over their money. I sell alot on eBay, and my friend sold many motorcycles for other other people. Pictures sell the bike. Shame I'd like it for myself to cruise on weekends. Strap the contra on my back and ride it to practice. No money = No bike..
  15. Ok going thru my spare garment bag I have a new pair of Band Shoppe XXXL Black Bibber pants. I know they're new because the legs haven't been hemed Plus I don't think I ever fit in these. I'm just too fat. Last I checked these retailed for like 60 bucks. All they need is a hem, clean and press. 25 bucks includes shipping anywhere in the lower 48 states. email me at sonofjabba@comcast.net I'll consider trades, or other offers too. Thanks
  16. Reilly Raiders Are Always looking for used Kanstul Bugles too. My back gets all tight every time they order new ones from kanstul. Man.. Have I really gotten that cheap.. LOL
  17. When trying to get parts like this. I would start on this forum like yourself. But I would start calling local music repair shops. Sometimes you luck out. Most keep Very large collection of used parts. If worst came to worst, I think there was a company in texas some years ago replicating valves for conn and king sousaphones. I can't remember the name at moment. Maybe they could help. Taylor Music in South Dakota does a lot of overhauls maybe they might have some parts laying around too. Dillon's Music is another good place to try. The brass Shop, lot of nation wide repair shops that I'm sure have parts laying around collecting dust. I'm sure after a hundred phone calls you'll make up a good useable pair. That's why I won't even bother most of the time with a bugle missing valves, they are a pain to get a hold of. Parts for bugles in general are a pain to get. If you'd like I'd sell you one of my Kanstul Grande's. I'm waiting for mine to come back from the shop before I sent this one in. It has some issues, but is 99.5% complete. After talking to my repair man he said it is repairable it would just take him all day to smooth the pipes out. No Tears in Tubes Thank God Contra Pic Best of luck!
  18. the Protec Euphonium upright bell bag works great for my Kanstul G Euphonium Bugle. May be a little loose on bari, but pack it in a towel to take up the excess space.
  19. I don't know about that I have a Conn Sousaphone that seen 20+ Years of abuse and neglect before I got it and the valves held up good. considering its now pushing 40 years old. However that used Chrome Nickel plated valves, Which are harder and more expensive to produce. Now most horns today come with Monel plated valves. Which are great don't get me wrong. But they seem to wear, or turn black from lack of use or lack of maintenance. Monel was supposed to be the fix all but It isn't. If you oil the horn up everytime you use it. and hose it out once in a while they generally won't give you any problems reguardless. Rotors jam up too, they collect junk in them which slows them down and they are a pain to clean. also they have linkages and many other wear/oilable items that need attention. Corps tend to physically beat on their horns without any professional maintenance ever being done on them. Most done by folks that shouldn't be touching horns at all let alone with torches, and any other tools. Just imagine for not cleaning your car for 5 years, or even a year. Isn't much different for a horn. At least you car has paint to protect it. And the inside of your horn has no protection at all. It all factors when trying to compare life spans.
