A shame those of us that matched will carry with us. Our at least, it sets apart from other alum on a pretty stark way. Note that I don't feel that way, but alum pressure can be tricky at times.

    sounds like a ###### environment in a ###### activity

Reminds me of the Cadets alums who came out in 2006 to tell my section that we were “the worst section of the worst corps in Cadets’ history”

If a judge already has an opinion about a corps,  they tend to keep that opinion unless there is a huge performance difference,  which isn't very likely at this level.

Recalling when finals judge and DCI Hall of Famer John Phillips stopped by a band I was teaching and said he would never give Cadets good scores because he didn't like their visual style

And here Is why you are wrong…it’s highly likely that there would have been less of a disruption via Covid last than what we are currently seeing.  Vaccines last year provided much better overall protection to the strains at the time.  Omicron variants spread far more easily and produce breakthrough infections, although much milder, at a vastly increased rate.  Hence the disruption we are seeing.

Also there was a much greater need to return to normalcy last year and instead they wrote it off.  BOA, WGI, any number of smaller state and or regional circuits pulled it off.  We can discuss if a shortened competitive season would have been more viable than a full blown tour…instead it was a completely missed opportunity.

    Competition is incredibly unimportant

That sucks.... except for the people sitting in the front row. Lucky folks are gonna get a wall of that Bluecoats sound

It's funny, the event that made me decide to march drum corps was actually a rain-out (tornado warning during Capital Regiment at 2003 Normal show). Standing at the focus of the horn arcs during standstills in the gym, I decided I had to become part of that sound.

  5. I have never reallly had much interest in Boston Crusaders, I found their post-2016 shows kinda cringey, like Goliath and the witch one.

This show tackles some rich stuff musically and they are doing it with such finesse. Listen to Boston and SCV back to back, the difference in dynamic contrast is striking. Love the clean abstractness of the visual - white brass, red color guard, black percussion. Some of the colorguard uniforms are so abstract and minimalist they don't have shirts.

I appreciate the Corps what is best for the Kids their well-being and Health.

But, Corps these days have to realize that there is a MASSIVE Demand for "CONTENT" from them. Outside of just performing.

The professional Level Camera and Recording equipment could be getting put to use and Monetizing this demand for Pre-season and In-Season Content.

The First corps to figure out Twitch will make so much money from running a Daily stream during ensemble, Lot Warm-ups, BTS, Staff, Member Post-show Reactions. The Content is limitless.

I'm guessing Crown or Bluecoats will be the first. BTW what does the Crown app actually do when you have it on at a show??

  7. Typical boomers - constantly put down the younger generation and tell them the things they love are bad, ‘cause “they don’t make em like they used to.” Then get all sanctimonious about “respect” and lecture the youngs about how virtuous they are. Pathetic honestly.

You do realize that most older people on here are very supportive of young members?   With money, volunteering, and going to shows to support them.  Have you looked at the age of volunteers?  They aren’t young.  My husband had no children in drum corps but he volunteered to drive a vehicle, using his vacation time.  He was 62 at the time and he drove all night for 16 days.

    So?

  9. Anybody see that FB video of Bluecoats reading “mean comments?”

No one in any of the corps membership or staff cares what old people say in their constant complaints. It’s literally a huge joke to them. Back in 2005, my seat partner’s dad would print out posts from DCP so we could read them out loud for amusement.

  10. I just wanna say before this thing gets locked

This is one reason I'm partial to the old "music in motion" design concept. Let's be honest, everyone loves Spartacus, but heavily themed shows can be pretty cringey for a lot of reasons. I like the abstract - pick music, and march drill (or choreography etc) that captures the music. 1993 Star, early 2000s Cavies, SCV 2018
