  1. I greatly concur that a good classic never dies!
  2. Well, I always have my students toss thier flags on the big sound-punch and have them catch their weapons on the big sound-punch. I guess it all dependends on the director's point of view. Although the flags do give more of an excellent visual effect for the music if they are tossed at the point of "big sound". And more impressive for the weapons to be caught at that same point in time. But thats just my opinion.
  3. I was once pulled aside and told by my former boss that I was supposed to keep my guard students barefoot on the field for the sake of dramatic effect of the show. I flat-out disagreed and said, " I am not trying to take away from the show's theme nor to compromise the dramatic effect, but simply to keep my students' health and safety in mind. I personally would NEVER put my kids at risk of getting injured by stepping on anything sharp, nor allowing them to perform without gloves or shoes whether in outdoor guard or indoor guard shows!" My guard performed in freezing cold, torential rains and unsafe fields. So I choose to keep my students protected wearing shoes and gloves. Am I wrong for doing this?
