  1. I'd change the age limit. I got another tour or two in me still.
  2. Cool video. The corps is starting to put some really nice things out there. Excited for the new website too.
  3. And it's nothing personal to the original poster, as I do know him, but really this is exactly what's wrong with DCI at this point. Here's someone who has marched a top 12 corps but wants to be a part of the elite groups that are out there. The mentality has become if its not them, I don't wanna do it. That's what's killing our activity. People aren't excited to just be spending a summer doing the activity. Finals or bust. Ring or bust.
  4. Are you auditioning on bass or on trumpet, which you've previously marched and made finals doing?
  5. Mechanicsburg had a Glassmen tie in the guard. Hmm. Wonder if there's a change?
  6. I agree. There is an open board meeting in Ohio next week. Hoping for some updates following that.
  7. What's that? The Glassmen could use your united way donation? And your company may even have a matching policy? That's awesome!!!! Glassmen are making headway financially from what I'm hearing (I am in zero official capacity) and everything is in place for a great 2013 camp in just a couple of weeks!
  8. As a timpanist sitting down all day, my butt hurt sometimes. But nobody seemed interested in hearing me whine about it. Never understood why.
  9. First place after 4 sounds good to me! Since retail land is telling us it's time for the holidays, have you thought about donating to the Glassmen in the spirit of the holidays? Even a dollar helps!!!
  10. Disappointed by the announcement? Turn that disappointment into a donation to a corps that really needs the hell and without the fype. Head over to the Glassmen page and donate to them. Okay... I don't really mean to derail this topic and solicit on someone else's news. Sorry for the hijack.
  11. So let's say we hire you and your fantastic high school band skills to write the music and drill for the corps. You did it with a high school on a budget so clearly you're the man for the job. But, for sake of discussion, you're terrible. Miserable. A joke. The students don't want to be a part of this high school garbage. The corps is not full because they are not going to have a competitive and worthwhile show for the experience they seek. Now what?
  12. Jeff, I don't disagree with your assessment. But I feel on the field they're still trying to figure out how to show the audience they aren't that boring corps. The 08 show was fun, audience friendly, and aggressive. But still seemed to get minimal love. Sometimes it's like they can't get a break when it comes to that.
  13. Glassmen have the ability to let people make a good name for themselves by truly showing their talents. Rob Ferguson was a virtual nobody (sorry Rob!!) in the activity. He seems to have made that percussion into something special.
  14. I highly doubt he's making a killing doing it. But clearly, anyone can do it. You busy? Maybe one of your students?
  15. Sorry, you are correct. Was a typo while typing too fast on my phone. Please insert 5 where 3 was in that post. :o)
  16. Whoops. Got iPhoned. Hearing good things about the effort so far. Hope to see an official update from the corps about progress soon.
  17. It amazes me. People were up in arms and flailed around about how all these corps that were in trouble put kids at risk and were so irresponsible. Here's a corps with over 50 years of history who at one point was a top 3 drum corps not that along ago, who is simply saying we got behind, please help us insure our future. The corps could not be more responsible. Everyone always says the corps is too private. Here's a good example. Corps come out looking for help at a bad time and is met by the same naysayers. ###### if you do, ###### if you don't. Thanks to everyone who has helped so far. I'm hearing very positivethings about the eff
  18. At the bottom of the save the Glassmen letter there's a link that takes you to their online store. You can donate through there by adding the quantity you wish to donate and checking out. Thank you for your contribution.
  19. I think what needs to be remembered is the corps is not trying to obtain stability through the donations, at least as far as I can see. They are aware that a long term solution is necessary. But in finding that which he BOD and Mr Stinson seem to be well on their way to doing, the corps needs assistance to get back to zero. They are not using this kind of donation as a permanent means of sustaining the corps. This is a great drum corps trying to fix what's wrong and needing some help in that process.
