  1. Not sure who you are crown phan but hope you're enjoying Glassmen ensemble and the clinic about to start!
  2. Watching Glassmen rehearse in the stadium right now. Don't really have any issues with the stadium.
  3. I have a picture of the new Glassmen members in a horn arc working with a tech with the big Glassmen hornline behind them. I'll post it if I can figure out how from my phone.
  4. The Brass Caption head for Teal was a former Glassmen Drum Major and I'm sure he helped in getting those students there. The fact that Teal left off in Ohio and Glassmen were about to roll in helped as well. Those kids will get a great end to the summer.
  5. Great to see those kids at GWest. They'll get welcomed to the Glassmen family at the home show tomorrow on top of it.
  6. You clearly weren't at Glassmen in the past few years, especially when I volunteer.
  7. I know Glassmen had a few holes left. A chance to tour with a great group of people and compete for finals. I'm sure all of the corps are already working on getting those members spots. I hope for the best for everyone!
  8. Wow. I finally get back on DCP and my phone decides to double post. Sorry bout that guys. It's my first day, apparently.
  9. Glassmen racks are ALWAYS filled to the brim. In 08 we had more cymbals in our racks then any other corps had total. Rob Ferguson knows how to get color from the rack. Great to hear Glassmen woke up the crowd. I haven't posted in awhile but finally felt compelled. Go G!

  11. No no. Slander involves not speaking truth. Would you like me to go onto the Glassmen Family Facebook group which is a private closed group where there was discussions about you and it was said that you were removed from the group? I know you can't anymore, but I can bring up some of those comments from other alumni. It dates back to the last time you came on DCP this summer throwing fits and giving the Glassmen alumni a poor outlook. Want to see true Glassmen Alumni? They're the people that have have helped with a complete overhaul of Gwest AND Geast. Those people have been busting their butts to make things better. Don't threaten me. It's not very flattering.
  12. An entirely new brass team was brought in last year headed by Jason Rinehart. Some great names in drum corps came with him including Beth Fabrizio. I think this is a great team to make the brass better. Just isn't an immediate fix.
  13. No but when the only people that come onto a place like DCP to talk about it are extremists that aren't even allowed to be members of Glassmen organization groups on social media sites, it sure could look that way. But how about Key Poulan?
  14. Get the Food Network to drop in and cover it as a cook off style something or other.. could be in business. Why not do it the day after San Antonio as a corps cook off as part of I&E? Maybe it could encourage more corps to participate in I&E as well.
  15. Hey look! Someone actually thinking outside the box a little! I like it!
  16. I guess I just wonder what it takes to get a legit food truck licensed as clearly it's possible, and how that could or could not work with a not for profit organization. Maybe the answer itself lies in the mobile food truck business. http://mobimunch.com/ Depends on the city really. I realize this probably isn't feasible in the end. I'm just continuing to beat it until it's dead. IF a corps WANTED to get certified (which wouldn't be awful in the longrun either) couldn't they potentially utilize their food trucks for a money maker? I know when there has been disasters in the past corps have rallied their food trucks together in the off season to send them to areas in need of them. Well, couldn't they do the same but to make the corps money?
  17. It wouldn't have any effect on the food line length for members. But oh well.
  18. I guess I just disagree to some level with you Stu. Cooking crews are already extremely active in the lot making at least snack for the corps during the show. I don't see why selling some extra would be all that much different, and that's where my thoughts came from. If I'm already cooking for 180, how much more is it to make an extra batch of whatever. And again, if you're a corps that HAS THE EXTRA HANDS, why not capitalize on this and offer more. If you have nothing to offer, than don't. I just know that many corps eat very well including the one I help cook for whenever possible, and that maybe there's some extra money to be made in the process with a little forward thinking.
  19. Hadn't factored in the lack of water hookup. That is a definite valid point.
  20. This is why I think it could be an idea that would work for SOME corps. Some corps have days when they have enough hands to pull this off. Other times, they're thin as can be and wouldn't want to participate. I'm talking about giving the corps the ability to do this. In some ways it's not MUCH different than having the souvie booth which is also manned by a volunteer putting in the same long hours and often cooking as well.
  21. Stu: Valid points, but here's the thing, I do. I love my time volunteering.
  22. I kind of just threw the idea out there. It could be a lot to ask of a cook crew. I can't see it being at every show. But maybe big shows, like San Antonio you have all the cook trucks parked off site just a little walking distance. Then it's almost like a food truck that many businesses have outside of an office for lunch time. It'd obviously be up to the corps in the end to what degree they wanna participate (just heat up some chicken nuggets, or put on a 30$ 4 course meal) whatever they'd think would actually make them some money.
  23. Was making dinner tonight and had this thought. Would it work or even be possible for corps to fund raise at shows by utilizing their cook truck as the mobile kitchen and restaurant it really is? I realize some shows would never allow it as it would take greatly from concession sales, but what if corps could instead sell food from their trucks to spectators? Corps could decide for themselves if they want to participate and to what extent. Even set their own prices. Many corps eat VERY well, why not capitalize on this? Would it just be the shows preventing it so they can try and make money? Anyone else think that people would pay maybe even an extra dollar or two to grab that burger or philly steak and cheese from a corps truck versus a concession stand? Just trying to think outside the box for some fund raising ideas for corps. Plus it's the offseason and somehow these are the thoughts that ended up in my head. Anyone else have a thought on this or maybe some other way corps can make some money on the road using resources they already have?
