  1. Not the first time SOA has beaten Phantom, but the first time since 1986. The first time Spirit beat Phantom was in 1979.
  2. This one made me smile. The 1977 Oakland Crusaders drumline has to be included in anyone's list of best drumlines ever. What a smoking snare line!!! Downstroking done right, 16th/32nd interpretation of diddles instead of the slur-dog style of the day. Pure power drumming. Ahhhhhh...... Too bad the corps didn't make finals that year to close the deal on high drums (they won high drums in prelims that year but couldn't win the award because the corps was not in finals). Trust me, I loved the Devs line that year and I am happy they won high drums, but the Okies were probably the best line that year in my opinion. It's a shame there is not a video available so people can check out this great line.
  3. Hey Kelley, Thanks for the kind words. It was really great catching up with you, ScoJo, and Kubitz in Scranton. Can't wait til next year. I loved the Renagades show this season and can't wait to see next years version. As you can see by our staff announcements, we have some great things going on at Frontier this year and we're real excited about where we're headed. See you in Rochester.
  4. [/quote=Malibu,May 15 2005, 06:10 AM]I can't remember if Tom Float came back to the scene of the accident or was in the truck when it turned over. All I know is we were traveling along with Spirit to California and came across this wreck. Our busses were older and much slower than their busses.....heck as you can see even their equipment truck was waaaay ahead of us. You should have seen the look on the members of Spirit's faces when we all pulled up getting off our busses with their equipment..... .......it was priceless! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Wow! That's the first pictures I have seen of the accident. I had no idea the wreckage was anything line that. The Crossmen really saved us that day. Rumor has it that the tow truck operator was going to try to upright the truck with all of the equipment inside had the Crossmen busses not pulled up and stopped them. It was just an incredible act of kindness on their part to pull our equipment out of the wreckage like they did. The amazing thing in looking at these pictures is that most of the equipment was undamaged. The close bond that Spirit and Crossmen still have today had their beginnings on that eventful day.
  5. Definitely 1982. That's the center of the snare line and that is me 2nd from the left in the picture.
  6. This is actually Spirit of Atlanta 1980. The black arm bands were in memory of Jim Ott's passing that summer.
