  5. Wow! Thanks for pointing that out and I have contacted the Mapex guys about it. This is even below cost that they are offering! MSRP on these is $750. However they do only offer the 2 basic colors at this price and black is not one of them. Having contacted them this morning, ordering in popular color's like black takes the price to $369. Having said that, it looks like I need to revise my price and mark these down to sell at $320 each or $1750 for the set! Any takers please contact the same email address. Thanks for your time.
  6. Great video, excellent production. Good luck.
  7. All 6 are still available, sorry for the delay in response had them sold last week but there was a "financial" issue by the other party. Email me direct and I will be happy to send you all the info and pictures. magonigal@genesisdbc.org Thanks!
  8. Unfortunatly Genesis will be unable to attend this great event! Prior to the scheduling of this we had already committed to a performance in our home area. We will be looking forward to attending this event in the future and I will be present at the TXDCP to represent our group. It's going to be a good one and I am excited to see all teh Texas Corps shine!

  11. GREAT post and topic! I could not agree more with both of you! There are so many chances for exposure outside of the DCI tour. Theme parks, festivals, performing arts circuits and CLINICS just to name a few! Yes Clinics, even in the Open Class realm, are not only great sources of recruitment, another opportunity for your kids to perform as well as an opportunity for your staff to gain valuable teaching experience and spread a higher level of education to some schools that maybe don't get that kind of exposure. In addition it sets your group up for future support. If groups continue to look to a DCI tour as their only means for their kids to perform they are not giving their communities or their organizations what they deserve. There are so many chances for future revenues through exposure within this activity. In the end the activity was founded on education and therefore should fully support any opportunities to educate more than just its members with a 10 minute show. It's not an easy journey to say the least, but it becomes harder if your vision is focused on one path. Good discussion. :) Chris Magonigal Executive Director Genesis DBC www.genesisdbc.org
  12. This is what we call a perfect example. Please stop your assumptions - 1. Where does it say the ED does not pay his staff? In fact my entire staff volunteered to work for free last season. 2. Our kids knew about this long before this post. And they have been given the options and support to continue their drum corps experience. ` 3. Our new venture, when the time comes, is no where near the same "area". We are fully aware of what it takes to make this happen. Thanks for the advice. 4. That was the point as I mentioned before. We will post an announcement about the our new developments when it is appropriate and things are in order. I will ask that this post is removed as it has become a very trivial and silly thing to have to read replies like this. In the future might I suggest you stop assuming you know what you are talking about. We all know what assuming does. I am truly sorry that the truth is somehting that can not be shared to the public and maybe that is what is wrong with things today. "Some human beings just never cease to amaze me in how they wish to critique before knowing the truth, and they don't know the truth because they enjoy the attention of there assumptions more than actually knowing. Maybe if they knew the actual truth there would be nothing to critique." - J.F.K.
  13. Let me clarify. There has been no formal announcement that Mystikal is folding. That is between Mystikal and DCI. The actual "dirty laundry" with this organization is not aired in this announcement, only that the staff resigned and why. This was done only out of necessity and as a last case result. There have been numerous, daunting messages left for my self and this staff in regards to Mystikal’s current and past "issues" and there has been no public announcement that we are no longer part of the organization, by no choice of our own. Based on this we needed to make public that we were no longer associated and to make aware the individual who is responsible for those issues and provide a point of contact. Unless this was addressed publicly then we would continue to have to field negativity for things that are no fault of ours and be immersed in trying to explain this over and over, thus impeding us moving on. This is a very well read forum and this post was successful in accomplishing its point because the appropriate parties have seen it. In addition we would hope that it would encourage anyone who is approached to work for this group in the future to make sure it is in a better position than before and ask the “right” questions. I do not wish the same thing that happened to myself and this staff to happen to anyone. Until these matters are public, then it will keep happening to students and educators and it is truly unfair. It's easy for people to assume that they know what is going on based on a generalized post, or the knowledge they have about how their organization is run, but the reality is much different. There have been many good points on this thread, and some not so good, but the bottom line still remains that this was the last effort in order for us to move on and shed light for future individuals associated with this group. It may not have been the best solution, but it was the only one we have not attempted. Bash as you will, it iwas expected, however I feel confident that this post achieved what it was intended for and, based on it's popularity, it will aide future individuals from enduring the same experience this staff went through in 09. 14. I do acknowledge that there are circumstances out there where egos and educational staff members are not focused on the task at hand, causing negative issues within the organization. However we must also recognize the fact that there are those who run these organizations that are not entirely honest when hiring a staff, therefore causing those staff members to not be able to effectively do their jobs and provide a safe and educational environment for students. There are examples for both instances in both Open and World Class. If an E.D. hires a staff to "rebuild" an organization, knowing full well that it is not possible with the amount of past issues that exist, it is not fair to both the educators and the members and ultimately causes bigger issues. In this activity everything you do has a consequence and if are not honest in your approach, the consequences are not likely to be positive. In order for a staff to "put in the work" there has to be a solid basis from which to work from. No matter what year and who is on staff. There is a prime example out there of an organization that has had the same issues year after year and staff after staff and those staff members shouldn't just quit teaching Drum Corps because the group they worked for was run improperly and the issues existed before their arrival. I also feel this is the minority and Open Class has a majority of well run organizations with in it. This is in no way an indication of Open Class "falling apart" as the issues here existed long before this past season. The division is still very strong and always will be. Unfortunately it just also carries with it an outlet for those who chose to do things the wrong way. Great discussion!
  15. I agree that is an easy way to see this matter and generally how the story goes. This post would not have been issued except for the insane amount of negative communication that is coming our way in regards to the past of this organization. (Examples would be the reply by 3rd&10) This announcement has gone to several entities in order to direct future communication to the proper party and allow those involved the public announcement that they were not at fault. I see no need to mix words about a post like this as you are not in anyway involved, which is evident by your "wild stab". I can assure you we did everything we could to remain with this organization and prepare it for future success. At the end of the day it is all about the members and this is not a healthy environment for us to bring members (from anywhere) in to. Chris Magonigal
