  1. Oh come on. Traffic is traffic. No one is going to have to spend four hours in traffic. I commute from downtown to the Pomona area. On good days it takes 30 minutes, on not so good days it could take up to 90 minutes. Never 4. :)
  2. I think it would actually be more advantegeous for Pacific Crest. Diamond Bar is only about 20 miles from Pasadena.
  3. Shh! Word is they're going to do the bottle dance, make the corps disappear and re-do last year's show for Finals.
  4. Narration can be a powerful tool when you're trying to draw in a listener and there's a real story going on. But that's true narration. Poor guy from the Cascades sounded worse than a first time local news anchor in Tuscon. I think the guy behind us said it best when he screamed, "STOP TALKING!"
  5. Dude, get the kids meals. $4.50 for some popcorn, a drink, and SKITTLES! :P
  6. I agree. They're focusing too much on the "emotional" element of the shots in these cinecasts. The producers of these shows are still doing this like it's a PBS special and they're educating the crowd. I don't think some random person going to the movies tonight was going to say to themselves, "oh, that looks like a good movie, i'll check that out. DCI, the only people attending these shows are vets, fans, family members. We know what to look for when we see these shows, give us more of a balanced pakage when you put these things together. Use that inbetween time to "educate," focus the cameras during the actual performances on the CORPS not the individual. Sorry, my two cents. Plus, are they afraid to turn it up on the speakers where you are too?
  7. Unfortunately, electronic communication makes people courageous—it's a shame they don't put it to better use.
  8. Browsing around at the A&F on Michigan Avenue in Chicago, ran into a guy I marched with in 1999. In 2003 I was working for the AmeriCorps program on a trail building project in Birmingham, AL. My team and I decided to head out to this great little restaurant in the five points area and wound up being seated next to the cast of BLAST! I introduced myself and we chatted for a little bit. Same night, kind of random, also ran into Ruben Studdard at the same restaurant. I don't think he marched.
  9. i think in general there aren't enough drum corps tee-shirts that aren't corps-specific... i mean, i love all the corps and value what they do... but I won't run out and buy the t-shirt of a corps i didn't march with... that just wouldn't be right. but I DID march in a DCM corps, so I'd be much more willing to parade myself around with their shirt :)
