  19. The Brigadiers Drum and Bugle Corps, and it parent organization, the Brigadiers Music Association, announced that it is focusing on a 2012 return to the competitive field. It will use the 2011 season to further strengthen the corps' financial position. Given the continued, difficult state of the economy, projected record summer fuel prices, and the aggressive minimum financial goals set for the organization, it was felt that to return in 2011 would have been an unreasonable risk. So, as we anticipate our successful 2012 return to the field, we must do so in a way that will best support the continued longevity of the Brigadiers. Scott Mescon Brigadiers 1993-
  20. I've mourned the loss of the  French Horn sound in Drum Corps for a long time. I was just telling someone in a completely different, non-drum corps setting why the French Horn sound is so beautiful...well, my Music Appreciation course professor in college made a point to tell us all that it's because the sound is a perfect sine wave. Not so much so with other instruments. He also said that for this reason, it's the only instrument in an orchestra recording session which can't simply be removed [in post production] from a passage or section without it sounding like turning off a light switch, if you will. It would be too obviously noticeable to remove a wrong note, for example. The most listenable singers, he said, have the more sine wavy displays on an ocilloscope. I've always thought it was a great sound in the hands of good players. BTW, blame my professor if the above is incorrect. Scott Mescon Brigadiers 1993-
  21. Ray: The organization of the volunteers was the brainchild of a great man, Dave Kenyon, the leader of the Cicero-North Syracuse (CNS) Winterguard Programs group, our co-sponsors for the evening. I can't imagine a better group of people organized for a single purpose. There had to be 60+ of them! Wow!! The Brigadiers Alumni are great people! You're right...and we're proud to be part of the organization they started. All the corps brought their "A" game, didn't they?! Scott Mescon Brigadiers 1993-
  22. What a great and appreciative crowd!!! The Pageant's co-sponsors want to thank all performing groups for coming to our show and for working so hard to entertain the audience! When you have people reacting so strongly to your efforts, it makes it all worth it. Drum corps fans were talking drum corps!! Nice evening!! On a personal note, I was especially proud of the Brigadiers Alumni Corps' performance of the anthems and Black Saddle, as well as of the Brigadiers Summer Visual Ensemble's performance to close out the night. Go Brigs!!! Scott Mescon Brigadiers 1993-
  23. News Flash! In one of my previous posts, I used an alternate address provided by the stadium's site, however when I tried to plug "Northstar Drive" into my GPS (a Garmin,) it didn't know it and couldn't find it. Northstar Drive must be the internal road entering the CNS High School. Use the: (Michael J Bragman Stadium) Cicero-North Syracuse High School 6002 Rte 31 Cicero, NY 13039 address. Box Office opens at Noon! (and will remain open until the end of the show!) Gates open at 5:30PM! (Concessions benefit the CNS Winterguard Programs!) Show starts at 7 PM! (Brigadiers Alumni will play the National Anthems of the United States of America and Canada!) The weather is supposed to be perfect!!! Finally!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Scott Mescon Brigadiers 1993-
