  1. I can't imagine that anyone would even think about having sex in an activity where 100-135 or so college aged kids are around each other all hours of the day and night for 3 months. That doesn't happen at colleges either, does it? Or ever?
  2. yes, 8 times, not including the time you mentioned it in interrogative form.
  3. just run a couple miles every day. really, you'll be fine. don't freak out. it's tiring and difficult, but it's been done by some very out-of-shape people.
  4. I know someone who went to school there and they said they used a roll-step, so I guess so. To some degree, he's definitely inferring it. Or implying. I forget which is which . . .
  5. it would probably sound a lot like the way people cheer for the other top corps.
  6. it's a tuba tradition. that's really all there is to it.
  7. http://www.thevictoriaadvocate.com/233/story/49501.html A rather intrigueing occurence . . . never thought about a roll-step being lawsuit worthy.
  8. This is lame. This was supposed to be my highly-trafficked thread (yes, pun intended) and now it has been busted and re-distributed by the DCP team . . . and the stuff's not as concentrated or good . . .
  9. ahahahahh . . . that's awesome. one time, I was walking around a parking lot outside a stadium in June and there was a black dude driving around blasting Four Corners . . . thought that was pretty sweet. *presses off switch on lightsaber* Blue Devils 1994 is pretty ridiculously awesome.
  10. *sword down* Phantom 96- also pretty sweet. 89 is great, too . . .
  11. To give everyone a little background, I just watched this show last night. Being a big fan of Saint-Saëns, I was pretty happy. Also, I thought it would be nice to share some nice thoughts about a corps that isn't usually my cup of tea, just for a change of pace. Maybe this could be the thread where we all put down our swords (or rifles) and say something nice about corps we don't usually enjoy as much? Well, whatever. That show (and the 91' top 3 in general- three of my very favorite shows)- is sweeeeet.
  12. Phantom Regiment 1991= ridiculously awesome that's all I've got . . . just wanted to share
  13. <- one of the most ridiculous, ignorant posts I have ever read. As far as drugs and the like go, your kids are FAR safer in drum corps than they are college.
  14. okay, I can't take this anymore. I'm going to go do something fun. Peace out.
  15. Yes . . . I'm blind and deluded because where I've marched, people march and play instead of shoot up . . .
  16. Okay, sure, maybe when you marched, but maybe it's the quality of the organizations I've been around, but I have never witnessed any drug use on tour. And, with a few occasional exceptions, the only people I've seen drinking are- take a guess- 21 year olds on free days! How the hell do people have time to get messed up in corps? I'm sure there has been and probably still is some of this, but you make it sound like backstage after a Whitesnake show in 1987.
  17. Yes, all the sudden, in the last 7 years, the world has become very dangerous. Just NOW, in this decade, has crime, murder, robbery, and terrorism started to exist. NEVER BEFORE was anyone ever at risk of dying, ever. This is all very recent. That's why cell phones were invented. Because of terrorism. Or something.
  18. lololollololoolkoooo, lolololololol I would make it so that I got to pick all the shows and they would be shown in private to me and anyone who I wanted to take along. that's all.
  19. Umm, did you not read my post where I said that cutting off communication and not having cell phones are two different things? It is EXTREMELY possible to not have a cell phone on tour and call home 2-3 times a week. Seriously. As far as crazy occurences of national security, do you really think that you're going to be able to get through on your cell phone if another 9-11 happens? no way. If there's a family emergency and the kid's in rehearsal and you need to get in touch with them, they won't be able to answer their cell phone anyway!!! you HAVE to contact the corps! And when you do, do you really not think that the corps won't take your kid out of rehearsal immediately and get you in touch with them?? How do you people sleep at night?
  20. Members don't even have to use pay phones . . . just ask to borrow a staff member's cell phone after a show. Done. You can be in touch with your parents as often as 2-3 times a week if you really want to (though that seems a bit ridiculous to me, even for a 16 year old). As far as the whole boyfriend-girlfriend thing, you're going to be gone all summer anyway. A cell phone is the least of your worries, especially if you're marching in a co-ed corps. To act as if corps that do not allow cell phones are trying to "control" the members or purposely shut them away from their families and friends is ridiculous. There are many, many ways to stay in touch during the summer. In any case, I'll repeat my initial sentiment of this really isn't anyone's business but the members and staff of the corps in question. Whatever they want and can live with is fine and should be accepted by us as people who don't really have to deal with it.
  21. Not having a cell phone and not being in contact with your parents are two very different things. Really. Whatever you think not having a cell phone on tour is like, it's very different.
