  1. Brad is my individual teacher here at the Boro. Great guy. He showed me how to hold them, but i'm finding it hard to get the mallets to where they need to go.
  2. We are working on a peice for our show where there is a possible spot for 4 mallet work. It has been so long since i played 4's that i'm looking for the best technique to use. Any Ideas. The pattern of notes is: G/B F/A G/Bb A/C B/Gb The angle is what is messing me up cause it's hard to get your hands to bend in the directions they need to :) Any input would be helpful.
  3. Well she lives here in Erie with me, so the closest corps to us are The T-birds (my personal favorite, but I'm biased) Rodchester and Reading. And Reading is a stretch. I'm gonna take her to a T-birds practice so she can see what it's all about. Maybe she will join our cult!
  4. I have a few friends who are interested in joining the exciting world of drum corps. Where is a good place for some one who has no experience with instruments to start?
  5. I was prompted to write an essay explaining family and what it means to me for one of my classes. It was due right after the Harrisburg show. Family When asked to write a paper on my experience with family I chose a bit of a different approach. Family to me extends far past the blood lines of genealogy and into a persons heart and soul. My family is much larger then any family tree could ever possibly graph and it is with out a doubt the biggest support system I have. You may wonder what I am describing as family, and to that I answer Drum Corps. For most of my life I have been involved in music programs ranging from High School marching band to Orchestra and Choir. But never have I been involved with such an outstanding group of Individuals as the Erie Thunderbirds. I have only been in the corps for 2 years but, in that two years I have made some of the greatest friends and have come to realize that they are a part of my life in a huge way. These people bend over backwards to help you, they are there to support you and they help you up when you fall. We overcome difficulty and celebrate achievement together as a whole. For 9 months out of the year we practice, play, travel and party together and this organization creates solid bonds that are difficult to break. I can not imagine not being a Thunderbird and I am proud to say that I am. Family extends past the bloodlines of genealogy, into a persons heart and soul, and every member of the Thunderbirds has a place in mine.
  6. I had a blast, it's always great to hear everyone play and even better to party afterwards. Hope everyone enjoyed it dispite the crappy weather. :)
  7. Serenade in Brass in Harrisburg PA was a fantastic show. All of the corps sounded wonderful and the sold out once again. Nice job to every one that was there. :)
