I'm sure this has been said numerous times but - BECAUSE OF THE AMPS!!!! OK - maybe it's not so bad if you leave the amps for the pit only - and by that I mean for their instruments! No singing, No narration, blah blah blah... And turn them down!
Good afternoon ALL - I was fortunate enough to attend both sessions in the Alamodome yesterday and had a wonderful time.
Here's my (old fart) thoughts on what I saw:
Revolution - Really nice DL - good brass - wonderful cg
Pioneer - fairly entertaining - just needs to clean it up
Seatte Cascades - very nice show - a bit sloppy but nice concept
The Magic - Honestly the most entertaining show of the afternoon! just technically a bit rough
Esperanza - much more technically sound but just a bit boring
Southwind - these guys were good - just plain good
Cap Regiment - better - just better
Mandarins - nice uniforms - decent show
Blue Stars - Great to have them back! good performance
Crossmen - man was I anticipating this show and they let me down so badly. Their technique was good but they are using microphones - narration - crap ----just crap.. ruined the whole show.
Colts - awesome from start to finish
Spirit - this is when you felt like the big boys were coming up! They wailed! great show
Glassmen - well performed - just little boring
Madison Scouts - The boys are BACK! Best drumline by far of the afternoon! - should never have been seeded in the afternoon group.
Blue Knights - good show - well done but a bit anticlimatic after just seeing the scouts...
Boston Crusaders - really pretty tight - lots of props on the feild - very distracting
Carolina Crown - Very well done drill - drumline needs work though
Santa Clara - had it all going as usuall
The Cadets - BAD - Just Bad I actually left to get a hot dog rather than subject myself to any more of their marching band like joke of a show.... Singing?
Phantom was at their best! best performance of the night for me!
Bluecoats - great in all areas - awesome drumline
Cavies - wonderful! just wonderful
BD - wonderful as well - it was close...
