  1. Heh........ I actually started out playing snare drum with that white sling thingy. Now that's heavy. The drum weighed almost as much as me. Soprano is much less of a load.
  2. Yeah, I don't know any of these people, but that uniform looks like the one in the parade picture NanciD posted where folks were trying to guess what the name on the sign was on the building in the background. I think the corps was Utica Yankees or something. It's definately an upstate thing. Speaking of upstate......... I always wondered why so many upstate corps wore black shoes instead of white bucks................. P.S. NYSkyliner: I never played baratone or french horn. They were too #### heavy.
  3. Heh.............. I'm either real good with this stuff, or I'm real bad. At any rate, thanks for all the entertainment you bring to the table. You're a good egg.
  4. No, not in Florida Brass. I just get around a lot. And, I didn't give it away.
  5. I just thought of something....................... The Unknown Skyliner could be you? With all that Archie, Steel City stuff and the PA DCHOF.............................. Ah Haaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!! Maybe????
  6. Heh....... What about the unknown Skyliner????? You must know NanciD. You posted the photo.
  7. From left to right: Steve Allen, Dave Garraway, and I don't know who's on third.
  8. Even another WAY OUT THERE guess: Charlie Aquilinia. This is of course a very long long shot since I'm sure Mr. Lisko knows Charlie. Whoever he is, he's in pretty great company.
  9. Another WAY out there guess: Marty Angiuli (SP)?????????????
  10. Gee........... is it something I said...............???????
  11. Swan, Pee Wee and I don't recall the third guy in?????
  12. That's exactly what I meant. As far as woopin, just fooling around. There are many famous characters I've never met, but have seen. I remember Spider from way back. Never met him, but he's one of those guy's you always recall hearing about. Funny thing about all of this, I remember seeing Buddy Perry at a Skyliner rehearsal way back in the 60's, and I had heard of him, but didn't get to meet him. Back then there was no reason. He did write for DCN at the time, so to me he was big time. Well, here it is 45 years later and I'm sitting down having breakfast with him and talking like we have known each other forever. Real stand up guy. Too bad he is no longer with us, as many are not. So very fragile this activity is at times............................
  13. Yes, but it is a wild guess and just realized I could be way off on this for obvious reasons. I've heard of him, competed against him, but never met him. I must retract my wild guess now, so as not to be politically incorrect, or suffer a good ol ###-woopin.
  14. Ya know what would really be interesting? Some pictures of people from St. Catherines Queensmen. I don't recall ever seeing pictures of them. Certainly a powerhouse corps with many powerhouse members moving on to the senior circuit when the Q-Men ended.
  15. That is a great shot. I know you're kidding here, I just had a feeling and when I thought of yer conversation with Andy, I put the PAL thing together with him. I guess Chris Ruge is on the far side of the picture????????
  16. That's so easy. It's Wes Hobby. Just kidding Fran. You da man. Now, if he can only explain what happened to the hat...........................
  17. It was a wild guess, but I figured NanciD would dig up something on you. Besides, it's PAL, one of my all time favorite corps.
  18. I'll take a wild guess on this one. Bridgeport's favorite son, Andy Lisko? Oversea's cap another real wild guess, Chris Ruge???????????????? Two greats in the history of D&B Corps.
  19. [quote It took a while for things to jell in 64. The corps started very slow but as August came around the corps got on a roll and put it all together at the Dream. That was the first show St. Kevin's won that year. From that point on, they were a threat to win any show they were in. /quote] Hmmmmm...... still having problems with that quote box.............. I've heard that were it not for a flag violation, St. Kevins would have won the 1964 Worlds Fair Show over some very formidable competition, including the Royal Airs and Cavaliers. This doesn't surprise me at all.
  20. Hmmmmmmmmm........................... Still don't know who.
  21. OK, I give up................................... Drew Carey? The marching years??????????
