P R E S S R E L E A S E April 1, 2008 Fusion Core announces Assistant Drum Major Fusion Core is pleased to announce Lauren Kulick as Assistant Drum Major for the 2008 Season. As the Assistant Drum Major, Lauren will work along side Drum Major Megan Spatz and will showcase the corps during non-competitive performances. Holly Marino, Director, said “once again, we are fortunate to have music educators taking an active leadership role within our organization”. Lauren is a 2006 graduate of Montclair State University School of the Arts and is currently the band director at Jefferson Twp. Middle School in New Jersey. This is Lauren's second year marching mellophone within the DCA Circuit and Fusion Core. When she is not enjoying drum corps or teaching Lauren is a freelance french hornist and a french horn player for the brass quintet "Covenant Brass". Lauren is very excited to be hitting the field this summer in this unique role, and is looking forward to a great season. Fusion has extended interviews for one additional Assistant Drum Major thru the month of April. The Assistant Drum Major will work closely with the lead drum major all season. Responsibilities include the backfield and side-field conducting responsibilities. The ADM will also participate in parades, awards retreat, and will be called to conduct from the main podium from time to time during sectionals and rehearsals. Experience as a high school, college, or drum corps drum major is preferred, but not required. FUSION 2008 SEASON KICKS OFF!!! On Saturday, December 1st, past and future Fusion-ites converged on Rahway High School for only the 2nd Open House in the corps' short history. The weather was chilly, but what was going on inside the school was certainly HOT enough to get the ol' drum corps juices flowing! The day began with registration and a great lunch provided by Fusion supporters. Returning veteran members and staff, both old and new, made their way around introducing themselves and getting to know all of the new folks coming in the door. With full bellies and building anticipation, everyone made their way into the auditorium to officially kick off the 08 season. Registration will begin at 11:00 am with the opening of the 2008 Season announcements by the Director, Holly Marino. This is your chance to check out Fusion Core, see what it's all about, meet the members, prospective members as well as staff; you will not be disappointed!! Family and friends are encouraged to come and experience what drum corps is all about. After a very successful first season we are honored to be joined by so many wonderful corps competing within the DCA Circuit and are dedicated to making the drum corps experience memorable for all our members. The level of talent and dedication by the members, staff and administration far exceeded our expectations in 2007 and we look forward to expanding our existing membership for 2008. The music, marching as well as color guard programs in place by our dedicated staff of music educators and drum corps professionals will provide you the members with the skills to be successful not only in the sport of drum corps but in life.
