Tonight, before the opening of the Rocky Mountain Audio Fest here in Denver, I had the opportunity to preview our recording made in Ogden, UT this past summer. What an incredible experience! I’ve been around awhile and never has there been a recording made of drum corps that sounds like this! The recording is making its debut this weekend as one of the main features of the Audio Fest. Now I must admit I listened to the recording on a system few people will ever get to experience (at a cost of over three quarters of a million)… but oh my word! What makes it sound the way it does? Number one… if I do say so myself, the Corps was playing extremely well… It was a truly magical recording session. Number two… never before, to my knowledge, has drum corps been recorded at this high of resolution with the level of technology that went into this. The Disc we are on plays on regular CD players, SACD Players and contains Stereo, SACD Stereo and SACD Surround recorded with DSD technology. Some of you might know what that means! I know the sound is incredible! Number three… it was a totally acoustic recording, and due to the unique system of mike placement (IsoMike), absolutely no mixing was done in order to preserve the integrity of the natural sound. The result is incredible! Soon the whole story of the recording will be posted on our web site and the CD will be made available for sale to the public in the next few days.
