  1. Just messin with a free recording program... 16 tracks ala Drum Corps in mind! Merry Christmas to all you screamers! http://lnk.ms/HLS2T
  2. Jim Brady was and still is the smoothest soloist to date. His solo's we're generally improvised, his tone was fat and his range was and still is exceptional. That's not to take away from others throughout the history of the sport. As a little kid in 1978 I climbed fences to listen to him and others any chance I had. An earlier post said it right, it's now too controlled and sounds that way. I was part of a time that let you be creative to a point and hey, I missed my fair share of money notes but it never inhibited me from swigging for the fences the next time around which was usually 60 seconds later. I owe that mind set to the Brady's the Chez's, the Noonan's etc and of course some of my instructors, Lutz, Relyea, Smith, Dicroce, Dastrup... What a great time in life that was! Thanks Guys, Tony
  3. Jim Brady's Band in Houston TX... Jim Brady Check out Si Que Te Gusta Enjoy, Tony
  4. Hi Jim, I remeber you well! I'm glad I could be of some help and happy to hear you and some of your students have benefited from the workshop! E-mail me at: info@saratogabrassworks.com and I'll send you some other stuff that should be helpful as well! Thank you! Tony
  5. Larrie, You were on the staff, correct??? How are you? Jim Wagner( Aka: Ballzz Man) I think told me you were out west and still playing your butt off... Tony G
  6. Jim Hickey - Of course I remember you... It's a good thing i didn't march to much drill in those days! :P It's nice to hear from you and thank you for the compliments... Mr. Legolaus: Please state your name, it's been quite some time... Tony G
  7. WoW!!!! I just joined yesterday and found this topic... To be mentioned at all next to some of these great players is unbelieviable! Jim Brady was my mentor. That was my first year in Avant Garde and we happend to be on tour with them most of the summer... Al Chez, also a good friend was a guy I used to climb fences to listen to... His aggressive style was just one of a kind back then. I think I met Hunter Moss once or twice and he was a show stopper as well. Back in 83 Jim Brady actually traveled with us for a few days and that was some thing special. I was 17 years old and as far as I was concerned at the time all ever wanted was to be him. Imagine, your hero standing in front of you during the prelims in the Orange Bowl! Those were the days... I also remember standing next to our T-Shirt booth after the show and some guy asked me what I was doing after the tour, I replied "Starting College"... He told me about this new place called Epcot Center and that they were forming a sort of a strolling Drum Corps named "Future Corps" and he thought that I should relocate to So. Florida and be a part of them... Well, with my Mom and Dad present there was absolutely no way I was going to change my plans in a weeks tiime and get support from them... As it stands now, Mark Zauss owned that gig from every direction! Anyway, thank you so much for the props and I'll try to keep up on some of the topice around here. This sems like a great forum to be apart of... Thank you and regards, Tony Gambaro
