  1. Lots of details coming June 1, name, website, and a big big event that the world is invited to

  3. well dang, didn't mean to bring the suggestions to a halt, lol

  7. well we know what your anti-suggestions are, how about some suggestions? Don't want to get too hung up on what music the corps will play based on a name. Does Gulf Coast Sound play music from the Gulf Coast? Frontier from the 'Wild West'? Crossmen something Religious? Revolution play war music? and that's just TX. Conquistadors for example may be historically Spanish, but the basic concept is that these were successful conquests, it's a strong image. I relate that the same way as the name 'Crusaders'. I don't see Boston or Rochester Crusaders playing 'Crusade' type music, but they use the image (Rochester even has a cross in their logo), but not necessarily the music
  8. We certainly haven't closed the door on names, but do want to see what people's thoughts are... the poll is a good way to do that, as sheer statistics always help
  9. Ok, now that we are coming close to narrowing down a name... looking for one of those web-guru people that are chomping at the bit to get their name and designs out there.. so if you are interested in designing a corps logo, webpage, or a special project logo (special project announcement coming soon), email me at rockportdrumcorps@gmail.com We promise to promote the &^%$&*% out of your talents on all our media shtuff, and make sure everyone we know that needs marketing materials uses your skills... b**bs
  10. ok, we are narrowed down to 10 names, plus a few 'um.. still considering' names.... So feel free to vote on our poll here: What's in a Name?
  11. I think we all forget just how big and spread out Texas is sometimes. What's it take like 16 hours to cross the state east to west? and more North to South?
  12. BTW... still accepting names through the weekend, then we'll narrow it down to 10 or so finalists :) so keep the ideas coming
  13. Don't think we'll use any name that's too close to another active TX corps. Coastal Bend was suggested, but I think it's too close to Gulf Coast Sound, and I think we all need strong separate identities
  14. LOl, thanks for all the suggestions, and a big thanks to everyone for the emails and support. We are 4 hours from the nearest DCA corps (Houston) and 2 hours from the nearest DCI project (Kingsmen).
  15. Some awesome ideas... will be adding some of these to the webpage ;) Keep em coming guys! and thanks for the support
  16. link fixed.. oops :) we'll be moving to a domain once we figure out what cool new name we will be using
  17. I think maybe we could swing a Corpus Christi show in the near future.. sure we aren't right next door to all you guys, but at least we are in the same state
  18. Ok, so we haven't rolled out a big media blitz to let the world know we are here... (not that we aren't planning a full assault when the time is right)... we are just trying to get the important things in place first... so in the effort to let people know that there is indeed a corps coming together in South Texas to compete (in DCA-South/DCA-Central/DCA-whatever the new region that is inevitably coming to the TX area will be called)... we are asking for suggestions on names... We have had a lot of suggestions, and started posting those on our webpage.. we are soliciting feedback, suggestions, as well as folks who are interested in being on the ground floor on the next big thing to set the DCA world on end. Here is the list of names we have gathered THUS far... Feel free to add your suggestions. We'll add them to the official list on the webpage. Once we get a corps (pun intended) group of folks together to get this puppy started, a name will be selected. Maybe by poll, maybe by drawing a random name from a hat, maybe the person who writes the biggest start-up check will get to name the corps after their grandma.. we'll see Also feel free to post in our guestbook and let us know you support the project and all that flowery goodness we need in a guestbook Names Bay City Baysiders Beachbums Blue Sky Blue Wave Coastal Bend Con Fuego Conquest Conquistadors Covenant Drifters En Fuego Explorers Exploration The Force Heritage Horizon Jubilante Menagerie Midnight Thunder Navigator Navigators New Creation Nightmare North Beach Odyssey Raiders Raptors Red Devils Rockport Drum Corps Rockport Raiders The Saints Southern Sky Southern Venture Storm Thunder Vaqueros Wanderers Watermark Hey, let us know what kind of concept you like too! Concepts "Beach"/"Summer" Comedy (ala Velvet Knights) Jazz Mix it up Southern Rock
  19. Don't know yet.. haven't picked one... but you can vote on our webpage and help us out
  20. DCA's not dead... new corps are always popping up...
  21. We are certainly hoping to start in G, just depends on what we have available
  22. Looking forward to adding another corps to the preview in 2008. What a great event!
