  1. I'm between the 15 and 20. Sun will set right in my line of site. This reminds me of shows I did with Hornets in the 70s.
  2. 7th Regiment just began. They are small but playing difficult stuff. In their opener the girl rolls on ground. They must be soaked.
  3. Huge Crown equipment truck just pulled in. We're still waiting to get in. My friend said "it's easier to get into Giants stadium."
  4. This stadium is very small. We didn't buy tickets ahead of time. I expect we won't have a great vantage point because all the good tix were gone. Right now, we're in line to get in. The line was held up because the corps use the same entrance as the audience and we needed to wait for the Regiment's pit to get in first.
  5. It's starting to ease off. Sun coming out again.
  6. I'm at the show site. Sounds of thunder, but no rain yet.
  7. I'm heading to RI for the show if anyone is on Twitter, I will try to post some observations there. My name there is dianekde.
  8. I'm glad to hear about the cleaning. This is a show that isn't high on GE right now. I'm assuming they still haven't added in the storyline. I know the guard still doesn't have their uniforms. Delayed again until early next week.
  9. It makes me want to shake my head when "World Class" corps are marching on fields that sound worse than the ones I performed to as a 507 Hornet in 1974. Where's the supposed advances that DCI brought this activity? Massachusetts used to be a hotbed of drum corps activity and this is the only major show they get. What happened? (end of old timer rant)
  10. I think that rain is going to the West of Beverly. It should be fine.
  11. Show's supposed to be starting right now and Weather.com merely says "fog". Anyone reporting from the show? Are we without any near-live reports tonight?
  12. Me too. Right now, weather.com says "fog". That's cool. Radar still looks clear.
  13. Bump I looked at the radar and it's pretty clear at the moment. Can we dare to be optimistic that there will be a show tonight.
  14. I would love to the videos for them but I'd have to quit my job first. Weather update: I took a look at the radar and it's looking good for now. Dare I get optimistic?
  15. Tonight's show is on the DCI On Demand video schedule. The Crossmen haven't had a webcast or VOD of their show yet. All the more reason to hope that the show goes on. On the topic of finishing the show, I wonder if the staff wanted to have some things in by this show because of the VOD. Or, they may not even be aware.
  16. FYI: (from the show's website) Performing Corps: ( in order of appearance) 7:05 - Citations 7:22 - 7th Regiment 7:39 - Raiders 7:56 - Les Stentors 8:13 - Teal Sound 8:30 - Intermission (20 minutes) 8:50 - Jersey Surf 9:07 - Crossmen 9:24 - Boston Crusaders 9:41 - Holy Name Cadets 9:58 - Carolina Crown 10:15 - National Anthem / Drum Majors only - Awards Sunset is 8:24 PM. Note for Crossmen fans: Because of performing order rules, the Crossmen rarely get to perform at night at this time of year. This is a rare occasion. I really hope this show doesn't get rained out. There are few enough shows in the Boston area, which once had many many corps and many many shows.
  17. Anyone know where the corps is being housed? My schedule says information "not available at this time".
  18. Graphics advice: Take out the markers(x's and squares, etc) and the chart will be even easier to read.
  19. I also posted this in another thread: NY City had over 10 inches in the last 30 days. Normal is 3.8 inches.
  20. I know NY City has had over 10 inches of rain in the last 30 days. The normal amount is 3.8 inches. Meanwhile, Texas is in a drought. San Antonio has had 100+ degree weather for weeks.
  21. Not me. I'm going to Bristol tomorrow. No Beverly.
  22. In most activities the "Golden Age" is a time when the activity first gained prominence. In comics, the Golden Age is the '30's and 40's when comics like Superman and Batman were created. The Silver Age is the late 50's and 60's when Marvel was started. Today is the Modern Age. In TV, the Golden Age is the 50's. The Golden Age of drum corps was the 60's. I believe this was the time when there were the most marching members, the most contests, and the most total attendance over the season. The support of the American Legion, VFW, and CYO's created a ready-made audience from the members of those organizations (and they were much larger organizations than they are today) This will never be the Golden Age.
