  1. It's a mixture of sadness and elation. I'm really sorry for the girl's injury. But the corps made the evening show! Wow. I thought it would be close because Madison did a nice job today. But the Bones did it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Onward to the evening show in which, I hope they can just have a little fun and just enjoy performing for the home town after the stress of making the evening show and the sad injury to that brave guard member.
  2. They are now saying she has a dislocated knee and is on the way to the hospital or there already. Another guard member had the presence of mind to help her off and continue with the performance.
  3. ...and I heard another guard member helped her off the field in the middle of the performance. Amazing presence of mind on the part of the member. I don't know what I would have done.
  4. I thought they did a solid performance today. The guard is awesome this year. I watched mulit-camera and got to see some of it up close. Good stuff. More seriously... I hope the person who needed medical attention is ok. If anyone hears anything, please post.
  5. They are moving away now. That's encouraging. I hope we hear some news to allay our worries. As a biased Bones fan, I was really impressed with the Guard tonight. I watched the multi-camera. I think it's going to be close with Madison. I think this is the most solid show, though, that the Crossmen have had in years.
  6. I thought the Scouts did a good job. The Crossmen have to really step it up today to stay ahead of them. Next up....
  7. Troop had the funnest and most entertaining shows so far. They also seemed to be performing the hell out of it. Nice job.
  8. Sounds like the dome might be having an effect on some of the corps. First time seeing PC. Ever. I heard the occasional problems in the brassline, as well. Not crazy about the show they are performing. On to the next corps.
  9. This is the first time I've ever seen the Mandarins. Ever. Nice show. I liked the brass feature in the middle. Glad I've finally seen them.
  10. Eight hours until they compete (give or take a few minutes) to get into the evening show. Go bones! The evening show awaits your triumphant return and we distant fans are happy to sacrifice our Saturday night to a computer screen watching you. (Added an hour and a half later) Watch for this. The corps comes on after the intermission. When they did this in Clifton, they had plenty of time to set up. The front ensemble played "Across the Universe" to get the crowd in the mood for Planet X. It was lovely. For those watching on the internet, I don't know if we'll be able to hear it.
  11. Question: Do they announce the scores as they go along or do they wait until the end?
  12. They kept it going tonight and planted themselves firmly in 12th. I'm really proud of this corps. The next step is making the evening show in San Antonio. You'll do it.
  13. Yes!! I was a little bit more pessimistic about the Crossmen earlier, but they exceeded my caution and pessimism. The staff is doing a great job and the members are really rising to the challenge. On to San Antonio where I hope they make the evening show in their home town.
  14. The heat factor is a good point. One thing to keep in mind is that the Crossmen had Spring training in this type of weather for weeks. I visited in early June and it was never below 90 for them with blazing sun day after day. It was difficult initially for the members, but it really toughened them up. If any corps can take the Texas heat, it's the Crossmen. That being said, as much as I'd love to see the Bones well ahead of Madison and Pacific Crest, I wouldn't be surprised if their three scores were within a point of each other. I don't underestimate either corps as competitors. I really wish I was there tonight.
  15. Hmmmm. Results won't be up until very, very late on the East Coast. I stayed up last night, but I don't think I can do that again.
  16. I was just reviewing PC's scores just to get an idea of what the Bones will be up against. They are really hard to handicap because they've only performed in six scored shows. Madison was on an upward trend and have scored higher than the Crossmen did last night, but inexplicably dropped in their last show. So, I wouldn't underestimate them. It will be a nailbiter tonight, I think. Based on all I'm hearing about the Crossmen's attitude, they will be up for the challenge. They may also have one thing going for them relative to the other corps: They trained in the Texas heat. It will be 92-degrees at 8PM tonight in Dallas.
  17. I know I definitely would go bonkers from my living room. But, it definitely would make an impression on the home town crowd.
  18. Interesting line-up tonight. Listed in reverse order of performance Phantom Regiment - Rockford, IL Santa Clara Vanguard - Santa Clara, CA Blue Devils - Concord, CA Blue Knights - Denver, CO Pacific Crest - Diamond Bar, CA Madison Scouts - Madison, WI Crossmen - San Antonio, TX Pioneer - Milwaukee, WI Mandarins - Sacramento, CA Frontier - Denton, TX It will be the corps first time for the season to compete against the corps in blue. They haven't been against Madison in a while. It's crucial for them to come in above Pacific Crest and Madison in their quest for the top 12.
  19. Wow. Look at the recaps. 5th in GE, above Glassmen and Blue Stars. 4th in GE Visual, above BC! There's some work to do in the other captions, but it's much better to have a good GE show to clean, than to have a clean show that just doesn't have the GE. The potential is there, folks, and these Crossmen are working. Kudos to the Visual design team. Go Bones.
  20. Big night for them. I always thought that performing before everyone else was a disadvantage. Here, they went on after the "big guys" and their score benefited. I doubt DCI is listening, but they need to do this more.
  21. Before I go to bed, let me say... "When all else is gone only the bones remain." That's on my Crossmen hoodie. Never count them out. Interesting results in a show where the order was atypical. If I had a vote, all shows should do this.
  22. Actually, I've been on my terrace having a cigar and watching a near full moon. Every few minute or so, I come in and see if there are any scores. Off I go again....
  23. As someone else said, it's intended to be a random survey. They may even had a target sample size that they were trying to meet. I work in marketing research and Zommerang is a commonly used company for doing research. I've used them myself at work. They have some neat reporting capabilities. DCI would not be able to do such a thing on the fly. That being said, your point is well-taken about it not getting the views of casual fans if a DCI email list was used to select the sample. If random sampling was used, its a valid technique. Opening it up to anyone usually attracts the people with the most extreme opinions and skews the data.
  24. I want to also acknowledge Bluecoats gain on the two leaders in comparison to to Orlando. Good job Bluecoats
