Does anyone know what is going on with the encores this year? I remember last year was "America the Beautiful", anything like that this year?

Well I was giving him the benefit of doubt. LOL I think he did a fine job and I appreciate it. I understand what he was saying. There were some parts that were insane and he was confused with the "AWFUL ENDING" having slow drill. (I think.)

So what was his overall impression of the night?

Things could be far worse, you could pay $2500 to play Dr Beat all summer.

If we all take a walk down memory lane from last year, the narration was WAY overpowering at the first few shows. They tweaked throughout the season and had it fixed by the end of the season.

First show of the season scores may surprise us all! Hmmm.....

The Coats are taking the field right now, then the Cadets and the Glassmen, I say they will be done by 10:15 or so.

Yep, it's intermission right now, BAC is setting up the pit right now. (My brother-in-law is at the show but he is a DCI noobie so he's not real sure what exactly is going on to be able to report - this is his first DCI show ever.)

BAC should be up next! There must be an intermission right now because they are not scheduled to be on the field until 9:16.

I have a lot of respect for the Troopers, especially after the Drum Major story last year. Class act!

Loved the capes last year. I hope they bring them back this year. Word has it that Bones are at the show site warming up.

From the looks of that satelite, worse case scenario may be a late start. Good news indeed. It must be tough for the corps to work so hard during spring training and then have to face a rain-out for the first show. Talk about let-down. Hopefully, they will be able to get their show in.

True, true about the numbers. I am curious to see how it pans out as well. Scores could be higher, lower, not affected, etc. I was just giving you a little grief for predicting such a low number. All in good fun! Like you said, predictions are just that, predictions.

Ouch! I think at the very least they will break 70. They scored 71.5 at their first show last year and I believe they are stronger this year. However, there may not be ANY scores tonight. The weather does not look good at all. We all may have to move to the Rockford thread.

It's the most wonderful time of the year.................... I am so glad I have all of you here on these boards. People out in the "real world" (including family and friends) don't have a clue! BAC's first show is in Toledo tonight and we cannot be there but we have some family that are able to go. We asked them to plese call when Boston is on th field so we can hear. Now we know that the reception will be terrible and the accoutics even worse and we may only be able to hear a note or 2 but, HEY, my kid is out there and besides, it's Drum Corps!! Here's what my brother-in-law had to say to say to our request, "I don't get what the big deal is, I mean don't they play the same show over and over? You'll get to see it at some point this summer, right???" Man, they just don't understand.

We're usually all here together waiting for scores every night. Someone will start a "Toledo Lounge" thread or something like that = just join us there. People post online throughout the show. It is usually a great group to "hang out" with - I know I got more than a few chuckles out of it last year. You can usually get scores "live" here as they are announced (you gotta love technology). There were many nights they were posted here long before DCI had them posted. Now the recaps are a different story. Gotta wait for DCI for those but they were usually posted within an hour or two after the show ended, by the next morning in some cases.

Me thinks you will be pretty happy with them this year.

Ok I'm going to take a shot at it: 1. The Cadets - Well they are the Cadets, narration or no narration thier hornline and drill always impresses me. 2. BAC - From what I have heard, their brass sound has come a ways since last season and that is what seemed to hold them back last year. Granted, I haven't really heard it while marching since May 11th - but I say they will come out of the gates on fire. I have hopes that this will be a great year for them. I can promise the fans will love it! 3. Bloo - I really liked thier show at the beginning of the year last year but than it just sort of fizzled for me as the rest of shows developed and matured. The rest of the field is really a toss up for me. I haven't really studied their trends as much as I have the others. Here's to all of corps going out there and doing their best and being judged accordingly! No matter where everyone places I am sure it will be a great year. Sounds like most corps are going back to what they do best. Should be awesome to watch it all unfold.

If you go to DCI's Fan Network BAC's Spring Fling is covered today. Toward the end of the clip you can hear part of "Moondance". Sounds great! Can't wait to see this show on the field.
