  1. Not quite sure why my post upset you so. I was merely trying to say that it is completely UNFAIR that an entire corps is being held responsible (in the public eye) or looked down upon because of the actions of a few. Whether we like it or not, or agree or not, that is what happens. I can promise you that as this subject comes up in future conversations, it will be referred to as "what the Cavies did in retreat in '08", or "what the Bluecoats did in retreat in '08" just as it is with other corps from other incidents in the past including The Boston Crusaders (or most any other corps for that matter). I feel bad for the members that now have to "live this down". I have read right here, on this discussion board, how some are thinking of pulling their financial support because of this. Do you think that will effect those involved or the corps? When a uniform is put on whether in Drum Corps, working at McDonalds or a character at Disney World you are no longer looked at as an individual but part of what the uniform represents. That's just how our society views things. Unfair? Yes. But fact nonetheless.
  2. Another problem (and it has probably already been said) is that the individual isn't being looked at per se' - it is now "The Cavies" or "The Blue Coats". When you are in uniform and representing an organization, that is what happens, which is unfortunate but a fact. We may never know the personal identity of whomever was laying at the feet of the Cadets, but we definitely know who they were representing and therefore the enitre corps takes the blame and the entire corps reputation is tarnished.
  3. I have read a few posts in this thread that state because of DCI not having reatreats throughout the summer that corps members do not know how to behave while attending a retreat. Well, my children do not regualrly attend funerals or weddings but when they do they know how to act and to be respectful. Mom
  4. SCV has the BEST guard uni moment of the season..........still trying to figure out where those blue dresses come from.
  5. Here's another wish............. I wonderif they will let the BDBlog show the awards ceremony live............
  6. I did, and it worked. Thanks so much for the tip! Mom
  7. Thank You for the explanation - do I need to install Firefox then to view? I know in the past, Greg has had some nice surprises during his blog and I don;t want to miss anything.
  8. Thanks for an awesome season BAC! (Thanks Kevin, Greg and whomever does BD Blog - it was great to still be part of the finals performance even though we couldn't be there.)
  9. Never mind, found the answer to my own question.............for anyone else confused with the time-zone, here's what it says on DCI.org: Celebrating the fifth anniversary of bringing the world’s most elite and exclusive marching music ensembles to the big screen, the 2008 DCI World Championship Quarterfinals will be seen on Thursday, Aug. 7 at 6 p.m. ET / 3 p.m. PT in more than 340 movie theaters – nearly triple the number of venues from last year!
  10. I wondered the exact same thing but was too worried about being flamed for asking. Thanks for being braver than I am.
  11. Personally, I too think it is extremely disrespectful to the 2008 corps that is on the field right now. To me it seems as if the "higher ups" of the Cadets have given up on this season and wish to start looking past it. It isn't the corps fault that the 2008 show they have is on the field. I think they have done the best they can with what they were given. Tsk, tsk.......... Back up what you put on the field this year, if you had the nerve to put it out there, you better have the nerve to back it up, then you can talk about what you plan to put out there next year. Mom This post represents my own personal opinion and is no way meant to represent the corps I am affiliated with.
  12. Sending a letter via e-mail to DCI can't hurt. The worst they can say is no, but it may show how much interest there is out there so it can be considered for a later time. I know I sent my e-mail, will you send yours? Mom
  13. While this is only my son's second year at Allentown, he said he had an amazing performance last night. The crowd reaction was overwhelming and a great shot in the arm heading into finals week.
  14. One more heartfelt THANK YOU to all that contributed to this thread! We saved oodles of time by not getting into the contruction mess AND I finally got some FANTASTIC BBQ! Fat Matt's Rib Shack was incredible I highly, highly recommend it, the ribs are the best I have ever had. We also partook of margaritas and snacks at Taco Mac between the shows and it was great as well. Thanks again, it really helped in making a great trip into a tuly memorable one. Mom
  15. Yeah Scouts! I have faith that I will be seeing you in the evening show! (Man I have missed them!)
  16. My heart literally fluttered when I read the title of the thread. BAC really has done an outstanding job this year. Between all of the new staff and the rookie to vet ratio they have done really well "holding their own". We have seen other corps with these kind of changes fall dramatically in the rankings abd have to really work their way back up . Just imagine a couple of years from now when you have a "seasoned" staff and corps.
  17. When I talked to the GA DOT yesterday. they said the same thing. I guess there is a lot going on in Atlanta this week-end along with the fact that the re-paving project is being expanded as well. Again, when you get to the Atlanta area dial 511 on your cell phone to get updates and they will actually assist you with a detour route. See y'all there! Mom
  18. Finals was not available as a web-cast last year. Quarter-finals (Big, Loud. Live) was "streamed" at local theaters and semi-finals was web-cast. There was a Finals TV Special on ESPN2 in September but DCI is not doing this anymore. As far as I know, PBS Specials have been discontinued too. So here are the options for FInals this year, go to Indy (Bloomington) or wait for the DVD's to come out. I wish they would web-cast Finals. Even though I subscribe to Fan Network I would be willing to pay an additional fee to view Finals (I think $50.00 or even $75.00 would be fair )
  19. I guess the good news to this scenario would be that the 9th place corps has to perform twice in one day and will have absolutely NO rehearsal day. But then again, the 9th place corps could have a full day of rehearsal on the day of Murfreesboro because they wouldn't have a show day. 6 of one and a half dozen of another I guess.
  20. Even if some of he fans may think it is not relevant, trust me, it is relevant to the corps. If you don't think so, just ask the members of some of the corps that didn't make it.
  21. Does this mean they have lost hope of making the evening show? If so, Iam disappointed, I have faith that they will..........
