There you have it...First Regional...The more things change, the more they stay the same! Looks like Madison is somewhere between 9th and 12th right now. Don't try to put any lipstick on it!...It is what it is!

And I believe you're hitting on something with this show that might be somewhat of an achilles heel...Unless you've seen either the Broadway production or the JCSS movie, you'll have no clue (to a great degree) what the Scouts are attempting to portray on the field. There's a ton of nuanced things that are taking place directly from JCSS and it's a guarantee that people are not seeing it or understanding it. Therefore, it's not a reach to conclude that things like the scaffolding, the dude running all over the place, the guard seemingly playing leapfrog mid show is equating to a distraction to most since they've never seen the movie. The other challenge they will and maybe are already having with this show is that there's a whole lot of folks that remember the 99' show, which to many is one of the Madison favorites! And for many of these people, it's hard to not compare. I see this all as a real challenge for the Scouts to successfully "tell their own story" and tie it all together from start to finish and to do it in that classic Madison style which causes emotional bedlam by the end of the show. Again, it's certainly early enough for the 2016 Madison Scouts to make their mark in history!

I would have to agree Mike...I want to be proven wrong, but I've been at this since the early 70's, and there are certain constants in this activity that no matter how much I want them to change, it's always, "here we go again".

Yes, logically this is a completely absurd situation where one would expect that by now, Madison should have easily put some major distance between themselves and BK. But, on the other hand, after 4 shows against BK, this may tell us something else...I.E, why hasn't the spread opened up? Is it because the judges see or believe something completely contrary to our views?...Do they already believe that it's simply a matter of time and that it's a foregone conclusion that BK will pass Madison. Do they believe that Madison's show doesn't cut it for them?

So, someone please explain how the Scouts still cling to a one point advantage over a corps that to date has not finished their show. But yet, BD jumps something like 6 points in just a couple days. Seems like the same old dog and pony show year in, year out.

And also, The Sanford.

Ahhhh...I beg to differ, I've never, ever seen Crown, Bluecoats, BK, and especially, the Blue Devils ever attempt to do anything that even closely resembled a Michael Gaines type drill, I.E, Cavies.

Interesting analysis...I'ts no secret that Madison has been working on upgrading their visual presence, but one of the most consistent knocks on the Devils over the years has been their overly simplistic visuals...I.E, masters at follow the leader. Maybe they're just really, REALLY good at it!

I've heard your reaction from multiple others as well...People are either loving it hysterically, or Mehhh...No in between.

If you are able, check out FB tonight on the Scouts Alumni page, and probably the Scout's FB page as well. Alumni, Kevin Deisher will be sitting on the 50 tonight in the Stanford stadium sharing his insights. You will see comments there as well from the previous two nights. Also, check out the Periscope app on your smartphone (I don't know if you can view Periscope from your computer), and simply type in "Stanford" this evening, and more than likely someone will be broadcasting the show live (you can also see the other performances from the past two nights). The potential issue with that though is I believe tonight's show is being shown live via DCI...that might fall under some sort of licensing thingee.

And, BK is right in the thick of it already...and that's with them performing only half of their show! What happens when they add the 2nd half???...Beating everyone by 10???

Interesting...So the 3rd place corps, which is fielding a "complete" program, is only beating the 4th place corps by 1.3 pts, who by the way is not presently fielding their complete program...Do I have that about right!

I'm a Mad Homer through and through...But there's one thing I've learned over the years...There's a terrible amount of pre-season hype out there that's usually way off the charts as compared to reality. That said, Go Scouts!

And, here in lies the result of 30 years worth of outcome based education and the dumbing down of everything...Everyone gets a gold star.

AND, if they received as high as a 62 with only a partial show, what does that mean for the three above them last night once BK's show is complete?...Would they have buried everyone by 6 last night?...Is this some of that new "common core" math here? To be rewarded as they were last night for doing a "partial" should speak volumes to the other corps!...This stinketh.

Congratulations Men to a great start to the season!...I spoke to several individuals who were in the stadium in Fresno, and they both said that the Scouts were definitely the fan favorite tonight and wowed everyone!

I've got to say "tesmusic", you're certainly consistent with going on the attack and making it personal. From the looks of things, you're a fellow alumni, a "brother" if you will...which really makes your actions a head scratcher. I really don't get it man, I saw the same thing from you last summer as well. If a critique comes forth that you dub unacceptable, then that individual is dismissed out of hand and has no relevance in your eyes, and you're quick to let the world know by going for the throat! It's as if you're the self appointed gate keeper of everything Madison. It's called opinion...And it's healthy. And, there just might be other points of view other than your corner on the market. Please consider your actions brother.

I'm sure that I saw a "9th" snare "in the lot" in recent days on some varied recordings. I asked about this several days ago as well, and was told by multiple sources that the hole was created by one of the guys having to end his summer due to a medical issue and that a replacement is quickly getting up to speed. On another note, "Cop" is reporting that the guys had another dress rehearsal run tonight and that they were much improved as compared to their first dressed run from the other night (can anyone supply video please)...Hopefully I have my facts right, but I do believe I saw some "still shots" of the Men in uniform on the field from this evening as well.

And sir (Mr. Martinez?), was there anyone in the house which recorded the event?...Please do share!
