  1. Everyone was awesome this season, and there was some real competition all year long. As much as we tried to guess what was going to happen score wise, I am not sure any of could have predicted what a great season this would be. The Cavaliers continue to be a class act on and off of the field, and I salute Jeff and the kids on a job well done! That said, congrats to all of the kids. From those of us who have marched before you, welcome to a very special family. Relish the memories and moments of this season, and know that the moments you spent on the field, the work you put into perfecting your show, and the friends you have made along the way, will touch you for the rest of your lives in ways that you can't comprehend. You are now are brothers and sisters, for better or worse, on the field and in life. And though we may not always agree, one thing is for certain, there will always be a place in our hearts for all of you. Congratulations, and thank you for representing those of us who came before you with honor and dignity. We are all proud of you! Bravo!
  2. Why do I have a feeling you, wouldn't be saying get over it if it wasn't the Cavaliers? I will agree to disagree with you. We are each entitled to our opinions, and I respect yours.
  3. I think we are getting off point here. At no time have I argued that 10 is prefection (at least I don't think I have). But 10 is a special number to give, and in IMO I have not witnessed what I would consdier to be a 10 on the field this season. The quality of the shows this year has been a bit below the 98 or 99 marks we have seen in recent years. That's not a bad thing at all, but I believe when you start getting into the upper 90's, it should be considerably more difficult to raise your scare a tenth than it was in the low 90's or high 80's. It just seems to me that these number were "given out" last night rather then earned. Regiments visual scores should have been lower as well as BD's and Cavi's. If I was the judge(s) in question, my scores would have looked like this Regiment 9.2 BD 9.3 Cavaliers 9.6
  4. That is very true, in some sense, there has been some suspision about the higher scores for BD and Regiment as well. But, the point of my argument is that there were two scores that were awrded that I have a difficult time agreeing with. To me, 10 means perfection on an almost un-Godly level. It is as close to perfection as one can get. I believe the Cavaliers still have a little more room to grow. I am not saying they don't deserve high scores, or don't desrve to win. Quite the opposite, I just think they have more room to grow and can take this show up one or two more notches.
  5. Stef - yes, this thread would have been started if Phantom had scored a 10 in any caption, or any corps for that matter. Simply put, there were no 10's on the field last night, not from what I saw, and obviously to most who have responded to this thread did not see any either. This is not a pro-Phantom, pro-BD, or pro-Cavi's thread. That being said, the right corps won last night, that is not in question. What is in question are the 10's that were awarded last night, that IMO shouldn't have been. In the visual department there were a few more spacing problems than I would have liked to have seen for a 10, as well as a few other things that make made last nights show fall short of a perfect score. But I am not a visual judge, nor will I pretend to be, these are just MY OPINIONS. I used the 2002 show as a benchmark, because as some will agree, it was probably the best drum corps show to hit the field in the history of DCI. The 2002 Cavaliers diserved 10's, no questions asked. The current production, while ranking with some of the best in Cavaliers history, has not reached that level. For the sake of discussion, lets say a 10 should not be a box five, rather, it should have its own box, a box six. I have not witnessed anything that screams box six this year. I know part of your comment was based on the fact that I and several other people have been very big on Regiment this year, but that is just personal taste. In now way shape or form have I dogged the Cavaliers, nr would I. In my opinion, Regiment has the total package, but again that is just MY OPINION. After seeing all of the shows several times this year I know in my heart that this is the Cavaliers title to win or lose, and unless BD or Regiment pulls out the show of a lifetime, I would be upset if they don't get the title. Their show is packed with GE, great music and fantastic drill. I love the show and think the kids perform at a higher level than anyone else this year. But IMO, I just don't believe that they have put a 10 on the field yet this year.
  6. Thanks Mike!!! You guys rock! Please pass along our thanks to the web crew!! it would be an extra special treat if they can pull this off!
  7. I know I speak for everyone when i say: PLEASE POST THE MAD ALUMNI VIDEO FROM LAST NIGHT! Not doing so would be a crime. Please guys.... PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!!!
  8. Agreed Brad! Which is why I made the original statement that, IMO, the only corps to ever come close to a 10 is the 2002 Cavaliers. That show was something special, possibly once in a lifetime.
  9. So in this case, we are awarding the creative team and not the kids on the field? That doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. What should be judged is execution, not design. Design should only be considered in reviewing how the kids met the challenge of the show.
  10. Caviliers with 10's in Visual Rep and Visual Performance??? That seems way to rich for me. Now, don't get me wrong, I love the Cavi's show, simply amazing. But the gold standard for me is 2002. That show deserved perfect marks across the board. This show does not. Looking at tonight's recaps really begs the question, are the judges just slotting? IMO, Cavaliers should be winning visual, but not by as much as they are now. I can see 9.8, but 10 is a stretch. I question Rich Kemp and John Howell 's judgement tonight. Here's hoping for a better panel tomorrow night.
