You say it's an issue, start a thread complaining about it, but won't name one corps.  Got it.  Makes sense.

I never complained, not once. I simply stated an opinion. That said, if you want specific examples, go back and read through last nights show threads. I believe it can be argued that there are clearly some corps that are plying specifically to the sheets, all I’m asking is if given one option, would you do one or the other. Not looking to flame any specific corps. If you’d like to play that game, RAMD is still online.

  2. It’s clear this season a lot of the corps have placed an emphasis on points rather than connecting with the masses. While the performance level is amazing, the design is clearly pointing towards the sheets and not the overall fan experience (yes this can be argued, but seems to be a theme). The question I pose to all of you, if you had one choice and had to design a show that appealed to the judges, or to the fans, which would you choose? Is it more important to create a complicated show that performs well on the sheets, or design a show that has massive fan appeal? And yes, you can do both, but I’m not giving you that option. You have to chose one or the other.

    Ready, go!

  3. I, for one, think too much emphasis is being put in winning. I would much rather have the crowd screaming for me multiple times that sacrifice that for a trophy. I’m n ten years, no one will remember a boring show that won, but they will remember the show that made them cheer wildly. No one will remember a show with complicated musical passages, but they’ll hum the show that emotionally connected with them. If you have to sacrifice being remembered to win, I would much rather be remembered.

I think the beginning of thread predictions are off considerably.

So.....let's get some last minute prognostication. Based on nothing but my amateur senses and hype meter......

    1. Boston - 75.3

    2. Bluecoats - 74.5

    3. Phantom - 69.7

    4. Blue Stars - 68.4

    5. Cavaliers - 68.1

    6. Crossmen - 64.8

    You’re high.

its also Music for All symposium week not sure how that affects crowns daily schedule.

A bit, but not too badly. I would imagine this week was all taken into consideration when they planned out teaching the show. From what I was told last week, the corps was slightly ahead of schedule as a result of no rain days this spring. It’s been relatively dry, which is unusual for the Carolinas.

Time will tell, I’m just very skeptical about the concept of using a distracting device to increase audience engagement, especially for a show titled “Right Here, Right Now”

Regardless, my phone will firmly remain in my pocket when I see Crown in Atlanta so that I can actually enjoy the show

I originally thought the same thing as you, Cap, but was surprised to find out that I was able to put attention on both during the show. Same concept as a second screen while watching a game. I think we’re more accustomed to it now. It was a nice addition when I watched it last week at the rehearsal. As for judging, the narrative is it will NOT factor into judging whatsoever. The judges will still be focused on the product on the field.

This makes me so happy and so sad at the same time. This year was suppose to be my first year traveling to Indy for finals, and the first time I was to see Crown live since 2018, but I just HAD to have a car crash, total my car, and fracture my tibia plateau!!! 🤬🤬🤬 Now I'm down till mid August, and no live drum corps this season...AGAIN...😭😭😭

No!!!!! Oh man, this sucks. Is there no way at all to get you to a show? Maybe we can all chip in and rent an ambulance , and wheel a bed into the handicap section. I’m open to suggestions, we can’t have our guy not see drum corps this season.

It didn't seem like the whole show was finished, I guess they're still working on the closer.  At the end they just stood and played.  Can't wait to see what they have planned for the actual closer.

Show is complete,  but word has it the end is so fast and complicated that they wanted to spend the week cleaning it before putting it in front of a crowd. That’s why you got the standstill at the end.

I thought 2019 was pretty fresh for them. A tremendous show top to bottom with some of the best use of props we have seen in a while. Bluecoats 2014 and 2016 was amazing too in terms of props. But BD felt very fresh to me last year. I do appreciate that they are not always trying to reinvent the wheel, but I also think this show will evolve a lot more than people think.

Loved the 2019 show. Some great audience moments and the overall theme worked very well. This show feels very opposite.
